What's up with the Dawn Johnsen nomination...
Can she be re-nominated? Can that happen? Did she just get lost in the run up to HCR?

Cooking right now and can't look for info. I won't read that teabagger crap being pushed in GDP

1. Needed 60 votes, I believe.......
and couldn't get her done.

She's been in there what, 8 or 9 months?

All you needed was one Lieberman voting with the dog GOP!

2. She is the woman who could bring down Bush and Cheney
so the repubs will be stalling her for as long as possible.

6. Big surprise, FDL sees it the same way. Credible? You be the judge...
I do like emptywheel, but to put this all on Obama is just another trend from them I'm noticing.

7. I really think that people want Obama to be a bully like Bush and
Cheney were. They didn't like it when they were in office, but now that there is a Democrat in the Oval Office, all bets are off, and they want Obama to be as mean and nasty and ugly as Bush/Cheney and just ram things through, because they are the things the so-called progressives want.

I don't want a bully, I don't want a dictator, I don't want pond scum for a President. I want someone who takes the Constitution seriously, and just because someone from my side of the aisle is in office doesn't make it okay to ignore it.

14. You're right about that. What's more I think they don't understand the term "bully pulpit" at all...
"Bully for you!" is an archaic positive term used by Theodore Roosevelt. It expresses approval. (My mother occasionally used it, only in her case it was slightly sarcastic.)

TR's favorite phrase was "Bully!" meaning "Fantastic!" http://www.phrases.org.uk/bulletin_board/20/messages/1090.html

So when TR said that the White House was a "bully pulpit" he meant it was a terrific platform to advocate an agenda. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bully_pulpit

He didn't mean he was going to throw his weight around and run roughshod over everyone else. "Speak softly and carry a big stick," another of his favorite phrases and taken from a West African proverb, meant a tactic of caution and non-aggression, backed by the ability to do violence if necessary. www.answers.com/topic/big-stick-diplomacy

I've been meaning to write this out for a long time. Maybe I should just do an OP in that other forum (ack -- LOL).

9.  We'll just have to see if Pres Obama renominates her
as according to the rules I just read..if the nominees haven't been confirmed by the end of the legislative year.

This is how it was in October.

11. Thanks so much, Cha. I guess FDL and others are once again
jumping the shark.

It wouldn't make sense to nominate and put this wonderful woman into the spotlight, and then not to fight for her.

13. They've been transparent to me since
around August. And, now they're always crying "wolf" with their constant whining on anything anti Obama.

I trust him a million times more than I trust jane hamsher or any of those bloggers who throw red meat for cash.

Huffington Post blog posts that were growing increasingly angry and negative against President Obama for the most silliest things.

I used to be a huge fan of hers because I loved her fire, but that fire's been turned on the wrong person and, imho, the most undeserving.

She should know how politics works. She should know that attacking our President within his first six months (actually, she started it back in February, just a few weeks after inauguration, if I'm not mistaken) is counterproductive to the progressive cause.

Corporate media and their many, many sister branches in print and broadcast, have been dying for this. They've been working hard in bringing the President's name down, because they couldn't attack him while his numbers were so high.

Why did she have to follow them and join in that? Does she WANT another repub Pres and more repub congresscritters to block Pres. Obama in everything he does?

16. Good question!
I never followed FDL except from other blogs when the whole Scooter Libby/Plame thing was going on and I think FDL was posting from the court proceedings.

She has peeled out of the squadron as far as I'm concerned. Was she ever an Obama supporter?
