H The GOP says they will give a $15,000 tax credit for insurance
for families. The idiots don't get it that many Americans don't even make $15,000 a year.

They went on to say if a family paid "only" 6,000 a year in premiums, they would have the rest of the credit free.

They are out of touch 100% in today's America.

1. Oh, how nice.
Now, if those families could only afford to pay $6,000 in insurance premiums, they could get that wonderful tax credit!

2. I'm just hoping somebody does something.....
I pay $600 per month for 2 people and have a $5,000 deductible per person.

3. 10 years ago
I was paying out of pocket for a family plan - HMO - with premiums to the tune of $450 a month. I had to bow out of that when, in the course of one month, the premiums went from the $450 to almost $1,000 a month for the same coverage ... actually, my copays would have increased if I had stayed with that deal.

That was 10 years ago. Coverage for three people. They are out of their minds!

5. If it weren't for fear of losing my house I would just drop it and throw myself
on the mercy of the system if I got ill. (Yeah, like there is mercy). The bankruptcy bill fixed it so we have to protect ourselves in order to keep our homes.

6. No. They are sane thieves.
And we've let them get away with it.

The insurance companies no longer want to insure. Relieve them of the burden.

4. I HATE this damn tax credit cure for everything!
So many of the problems the Pubs want to cure with a tax credit don't help at all if you don't have the damn $$ to pay for it in the first place!

I really believe they only have a one tracked mind. "I hate to pay any taxes, so everyone else must too, so if I give them $$ back they'll love me!"

8. The tax credits only help the wealthy
How many families can afford premiums that equal half or more of their annual income? They can't and won't. They will just go without insurance or getting medical help.

"so everyone else must pay what I don't want to"

7. Don't believe this! For one thing, they never deliver if you
aren't a huge donor, and enough w/the tax cuts/tax credits...Jesus, let's get this country out of debt!

If anyone believes that this administration, or any GOP sponsored deal is worth a damn...just look at health care our veterans are receiving...the GOP led congress before this one, CUT VA BENEFITS AND HEALTH CARE for their damned war!

The next GOP pig that comes up w/something like his should be slapped across the face with the bandages our wounded have had to wear...:grr:

10. The Democrats need to HAMMER them on that, how out of touch
they are! The problem is, most folks don't do their own taxes, they go to ripoff places and sign the return without looking at the total tax bill, only at the refund. They honestly think that $15,000 tax credit is going to be $15,000 in their pocket when their tax bill is only a third of that. Imagine their surprise when they find out since they don't pay that much in income tax, they won't get enough of a credit to buy insurance!

They WON'T know this unless WE TELL THEM!

11. A 15,000 tax CREDIT or tax deduction?
A tax credit would result in a refund if your health insurance costs were less than 15,000 a year. A tax deduction would allow you to deduct up to 15,000 from the tax you owed.

12. If its a refundable credit, that might be something
i.e. you can get a $15k refund even though you havent paid any or less tax.

Then make it possible to receive that credit on your paycheck week to week like EIC has provisions for.

Maybe. Maybe then.

13. A Tax credit
Where I work, I pay approximately $5,500 a year in premium, have a yearly deductible of $2,500 with copays on visits and prescriptions.

15. I have a 'cheap' policy...
only $130 per month for major medical in which I am responsible for a $1000 deductible 'off the top'. No co-pays for doctors visits or prescriptions until that deductible is met. it's my understanding that 6 months from now, my portion of the premium is going to at least double. At that point I will be faced with a major decision.... do I keep this absurd policy or take my chances? As a mid-50s female, I'm not really sure what the answer is.
