More like half truths really. I briefly sat through a thing about Saddam and it glossed over the UN inspections saying Saddam was duplicitous and didn't allow the inspectors access. I thought the lead inspector said that wasn't completely true. Wish I had seen the beginning to see if they mentioned the fact that Saddam was initially supported by our former boys in the white house (insert photo of Rumsfeld and Saddam here).

I don't watch the channel all that much but when I have, I've noticed things like this happen a lot. And they sure seem to love those Antichrist and Armageddon stories.

Just an observation.

2. The History channel has only the vaguest interest in any history that
took place before 1939 or after 1945.

20. Have to agree.
Before Bush and the repugs came into office it was actually quite good. Now it's hit or miss. They still put out some damn good (and actuarate stuff). But it's now increasinly become mostly right wing drivel now.

So in other words, you're probably receiving 100% grade A bullplop propaganda.

we'll probably see big money Republicans who have an interest in propagandizing Americans.

10. It's a shame too.

Too much drama, too few facts, and a whole lot of pandering to the lowest common denominator these days.

As you mention, the Antichrist and end of the world crap is old. Nostradamus is not history, and re-re-reinterpreting his writings is old.

I get more history from the Daily Show than the History Channel.

23. Wish I could share your enthusiasm for the "Re-public-an" Broadcasting Service, Mendocino
But they too have become willing participants in the assault on reason. Media Matters has plenty of examples of their mis-representations of the truth. The only responsible journalist on PBS is Bill Moyers.

17. You mean "The Hitler Channel"???
My kid told me one of her high school teachers called it that.

Sometimes during fundraisers, the local PuBieS channel turns into "The Hitler Channel". Or alternatively, "The Hirohito Channel".

24. The price of being right...
Former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter was the one saying all along Saddam had no weapons of mass destruction I believe. A few weeks into the invasion of Iraq war, I saw a former US ambassador to some middle eastern country on the news, and he predicted with a great deal of accuracy the mess Iraq and the mid-east are in now. I have no idea what the former ambassador's name is, since I saw him on the news only once and then never again. Weird how the media shuns experts who are proven right, while showing the same Pollyanna pundits day after day with their glowing, bullshit prediction about the Iraq ad nauseam.

in South America & government cover-ups from Roswell to JFK. These days, it's military propaganda, corporate cheer-leading & Sunday school Bible stories.
