Want to make Freepers heads explode?
Edited on Sat Jun-16-07 12:33 PM by LSK
Read them pages 140 and 141 of Al Gore's Assault on Reason:

In late August 2001, Nawaf Alhazmi and Khalid Almidhar bought tickets to fly on American Airlines Flight 77 (which was flown into the Pentagon). They bought the tickets with their real names. Both names were then on a State Department/INS watch list called TIPOFF. Both men were sought by the FBI and CIA as suspected terrorists, in part because they were observed at a terrorist meeting in Malaysia.

These two passenger names would have been exact matches when checked against the TIPOFF list. But that would only have been the first step. Further data checks could then have begun.

Checking for common addresses (address information is widely available, including on the Internet), analysts would have discovered that Salem Alhazmi (who also bought a seat on American Airlines Flight 77) used the same address as Nawaf Alhazmi. More important, they could have discovered that Mahomed Atta (American Airlines Flight 11, North Tower of the World Trade Center) and Marwan Al-Shehhi (United Airlines Flight 175, South Tower of the World Trade Center) used the same address as Khalid Almidhar.

more

9/11 could have been stopped with existing pre-9/11 laws and simple police work.

Gore lists his source as http://www.markle.org/downloadable_assets/nstf_part_1.pdf and the 9/11 Commission Report backs it up.

18. I have heard the stupid Republican talking points
I have heard the stupid Republican talking points how Bush was only in office for 9 months when the attacks occurred.

If Bush did not have retired diplomats offer a carpet of gold or threaten the Taliban with a carpet of bombs, 9-11 would not have happened.

3,000 People died for oil on 9-11-2001 and Bush and the Republican party provoked it.

2. That wouldn't be enough to bring their heads to critical mass
For that, they have the universal explanation for everything
that has gone wrong since Eve led Adam to the apple tree:

It's Bill Clinton's fault.

(isn't everything?)

12. You've forgotten that FDR is the original author of all evil. A lot of older 'pugs start frothing
at the mouth if you even mention him. I like to say things like: "We need a new 'New Deal'", or "Eleanor Roosevelt did more good for this country from behind the scenes, and in bed with her lesbian lover, than Reagan got done in his entire 2 terms..."
Then I pour myself a frosty drink and pull up a chair.

20. Some pubs go further back than that to the Federal Reserve
The Federal Reserve is the root of all evil, and once it was invented, our liberties were destroyed. :sarcasm:

Another one I was debating yesterday actually brought up the direct election of Senators. That destroyed states' rights, you see!

10. I use to think the only intelligence problem Bush has lies between his ears...
But ever since Monica "I didn't mean to break the law" Goodling revealed just how inept and intellectually clumsy the country's "best and brightest" really are, I'm beginning to wonder...

11. Yeah, that evidence is mighty damning to the chimp and his boys.
I didn't check to see if this thread had a nomination or not but it's sure got one now. Like so many things surrounding conservatism these days the very foundation of the movement is predicated on nothing more than lies.

Nominated.

13. Bill Clinton got on the starship Enterprise and slinshotted
around the sun into 2002 so he could use the patriot act to disrupt all the stuff that he did in the 90's... honest, I saw it on 2020.

14. Hard to fathom, isnt it?
A little old-fashioned background checking, and these horirific attacks could nave been stopped. No torture necessary. Full access to all constitutional and human rights guaranteed by the Constitution and treaties. A full exposition of the evidence, fairly and impartially presented. And the 9/11 attacks would never have happened.

And yet, the Bush administration, so incompetent with the plentiful, ample and useful tools at their disposal, insisted that it needed the repressive tools of a totalitarian dictator, and Bush's pals in the Republican-dominated Congress handed it all to him. And somehow, they've convinced themselves that another massively murderous attack would be just the political shot in the arm the Republicans need to re-take power in our country.

Trying to cloud the issues with facts. You're obviously biased.
The only way to be objective is to balance the facts which freepers don't like with lies that they do.
