Rudy missing in action for Iraq panel

Giuliani's campaign fundraising kept him from commitment to panel studying Iraq.

Rudolph Giuliani's membership on an elite Iraq study panel came to an abrupt end last spring after he failed to show up for a single official meeting of the group, causing the panel's top Republican to give him a stark choice: either attend the meetings or quit, several sources said.

Giuliani left the Iraq Study Group last May after just two months, walking away from a chance to make up for his lack of foreign policy credentials on the top issue in the 2008 race, the Iraq war.

He cited "previous time commitments" in a letter explaining his decision to quit, and a look at his schedule suggests why -- the sessions at times conflicted with Giuliani's lucrative speaking tour that garnered him $11.4 million in 14 months.

Giuliani has faced questions of why he hasn't been to Iraq despite being an enthusiastic supporter of the Iraq war. He has said a planned trip was scuttled for reasons he didn't specify but that he hopes to go by year's end.

Pentagon officials said they are not aware of a request by Giuliani to travel to Iraq and that it could be somewhat difficult to achieve at this late date.

The N.Y. Fire Dept. Association said they were going to make sure Giuliani doesn't become President as long as they can help it.
Why? Because Mayor Giuliani ordered 9/11 N.Y. firefighters to STOP looking for their fallen comrades, a few days after 9/11; the surviving N.Y. firefighters defied Giuliani's orders and kept on digging for their fellow firefighters......Giuliani had them arrested. Rudy ordered the New York Police Dept. to ARREST N.Y. firefighters. Have you seen the video of those New York cops arresting N.Y. firefighters at Ground Zero? I have. It was aired on CNN a while back. The N.Y. Fire Dept. HATES Rudolph Giuliani.
