Online source for women's clothing made in U.S. - organic, union shop...?
All that good stuff...

I've been googling and shopping all day and am not finding what I thought would be out there...

I am so desperate for a few new shirts that I actually looked when I was in Target yesterday -- everything in Target is coming from Honduras and Nicaragua and has the vibe of sweat-shop allllll over it.

:(

Can someone recommend a good online store? I am in reddest Indiana so there are no sources near me...

1. If you have a Whole Fodds near you
they sell organic clothing. It is a little more expensive.

3. A couple of guides for you:
I subscribe to these and/or check them often - I would think they would have links to clothing sites:

http://www.idealbite.com/
http://organicclothing.blogs.com/
http://www.organicclothes.com/
http://www.newdream.org/index.php

Also - oddly enough, Wal-Mart carries a line of organic tees and clothes from Hanes. I'm not sure of the country of origin (haven't been there to check it out yet) but I'm hoping it's US.

Good luck!

16. The New American Dream page has excellent links! Thank you!
It is nice to hear that Wal-Mart is carrying organic, U.S. made Hanes products -- I won't shop there until they treat their staff with more respect.

And, I know what you mean about Wal-Mart...it's kind of "6 of one and a half-dozen of the other" on that! That's why I haven't been yet to check it out. I try to support anyone selling organic, but that one's difficult to do.

5. Have you looked into hemp clothing?
A few links:

and about the above company:

<snip>
Dash Hemp

The company's founder and owner, Richard Dash has an extensive backround in the Apparel Business in Retail and Manufacturing. He formed an apparel company in Honolulu in the 1970s, which manufactured women's accessories, swimwear, tops, and started/managed/owned the Lobster and Roses retail stores in Honolulu and Maui. In 1985 Dash put his apparel business on the back burner and returned to his previous profession conducting international tours.

International travel has given Dash a unique perspective on the plight of Third World Countries. He has seen firsthand the living and working conditions in these countries, so Dash Hemp is very sensitive to manufacturing conditions, and uses sweat-free labor in manufacturing their Hemp clothing.
