Thank you for taking the time to express your concern over the President's decision to commute Lewis "Scooter" Libby's sentence. I share your concern. I was especially disappointed in the speed with which the President made this important decision. It seems too many of us that the laws of our country are not being enforced, and something must be done to restore people's faith in the democratic and judicial systems on which this country was founded.



I want to thank you for sharing your opinion on this issue. Please continue to share your thoughts with me and let me know if there is any way I can be of future assistance.

Not being a smart-ass, but I worked in Boxer's office and staff members write these and they are approved by higher ups in the office.

...and sorry you got such a weakassed response. I too have a milquetoast Democrat for a Congressperson and rarely write anymore since I never receive any kind of responses. Even from staff.

But here's a possible rejoinder you might consider sending to her:


Dear Congresswoman Boyda,

Thank you for responding to my letter of concern about the commutation of Scooter Libby by the President. You said in your letter:

"It seems too many of us that the laws of our country are not being enforced, and something must be done to restore people's faith in the democratic and judicial systems on which this country was founded."

One way to help restore our faith in democracy and justice would be for Congress to enforce the laws of impeachment for high crimes and misdemeanors by the President and Vice-President. Then maybe we wouldn't be worrying about Scooter's commutation. Thank you.

The commutation was perfectly legal and constitutional, and congress has absolutely no role to play.
