Nicholas Kristoff Calls on Cheney to Resign!!!
This isn't a "crazy" blogger, this is a columnist for the New York Times:

When Richard Nixon was accused of misusing campaign contributions in 1952, he gave his famous Checkers speech. When questions rose about Spiro Agnew’s conduct in 1973, he repeatedly addressed them in public. (Look, you know you’re in trouble when the press tries to hold you to the same standards of transparency and integrity as Nixon and Agnew.)

I’m not accusing you of committing a crime. But there are serious questions here, and you owe the nation not legalisms, but that “stiff dose of truth.” If you continue to stonewall, then you don’t belong in office and you should resign.

3. Is it okay to snicker or er...a giggle at that?
Not sure if that was supposed to funny but it was to me. With all the P.C. stuff going around I didn't want to post something that i would be attacked on :D

12. Because it was even more preposterous than the original editorial writers request
Here at DU it would be like the assumption that when someone is thirsty and then realize that they would like to drink something to quench the thirst, and this being the first time that thirst ever happened to them. It's not even plausible. I am sure many here would have thought that Cheney should have resigned the day he became the *'s campaign adviser.

Maybe i misconstrued the post, or maybe one of us woke up on the wrong planet, not sure but either way, thanks

2. Why is Kristof attacking the troops?
How dare he attack our brave troops, does he want the terrorists to win?

4. Nicholas Kristoff, big fat war supporter. Probably thinks this is step one to President Giuliani
Kristoff is a waste, and in this case a broken clock. He pumped the war, he insulted the patriotism of war opponents, and when it all goes belly up he jumps ship like any other rat. When the big names who supported the war start getting on the anti-war bus, they work to make sure they're sitting in the front seats.

9. Kristoff also whored it up on the Social Security debate...
...even while acknowledging Bush's plan was lame and the need to "fix" social security was exaggerated, he continued to chastise Democrats for obstructionism. As a poster on Kevin Drum's site wrote:

"Kristoff is one of a very annoying and unfortunately prevalant type, guys who claim to be moderate liberals who take great pleasure in beating up on those to the left of them but are lethargic about criticizing those to the right of themsleves: Mickey Kaus, Johnathan Chait, William Saletan, almost every writer at the New Republic since Kinsley left. It tells you how corrupted the media environment has become that these guys get a big media megaphone, while articulate left-liberals like Corn, Alterman, and Ridgeway are relegated to the fringes of the media landscape."

It's been a while, but I seem to recall Kristoff was also among the bunch of liberals calling for Clinton to resign during the Lewinsky scandal. He just loves calling on people to exit the stage, either leaders resigning or war protestors shutting up because we seem to embarrass him at the cocktail party. Look, there's nothing wrong with having conservative Republicans as your social friends. But it's inexcuseable to allow the fear of them not thinking you're cool anymore to shape your political convictions.

Or the lack thereof.

I am not impressed with this rat deserting Cheney's sinking ship. Personally I hope Cheney stays on board for the full two years. I want him around for Pelosi to kick on.

17. Kristoff doesn't carry water for the GOP, he carries water for himself.
He wouldn't be a Rice fan. My guess is he's humpin it for Giuliani to be VP in order to smooth his way into a term of his own. Cause there's no way Giuli's getting the Republican nom on his own merits.

14. This (Kristoff is a mouthpeice) is a direct line of talk from within the WH, bet on it, they
arepreparing to dump Cheney. Fitz is getting closer to Cheney and the WH has already prepped by putting Negroponte in line for Kinasleazies SOS post, and move her, or it, to the VP.

16. If politicians put handicap numbers on George and Dick -
Edited on Tue Feb-06-07 12:14 AM by higher class
what would the numbers be? And on themselves?

Extra question - do you think they are high fiving it on their little score today - do you think Frist came back to do the deed for George

22. Now that's a drum beat I'd like to hear more of!
Saw bush on C-span awhile ago, re-run, at his press conference of some sort today, didn't see first of it, but, while being questioned he gave his usual say nothing blather about his push, surge, to get the Iraqis on the right path to security and freedom. He looked really awful. Love it! He is licking his lips as he spoke, hummm, I was hoping it was fear causing the dry mouth. Who knows.

would be a a 24/7 resignation watch like they were for Gary Condit and Bill Clinton during their scandals.
