1. In a way
I'm glad I don't eat that stuff 'cause I have acid reflux. Most of it is high in fat, sodium, calories, all that. Thanks for posting this.

2. The plant is in GA -- no wonder I didn't recognize any of those brands.
Scared me. A day without chile is like a day without sunshine.

4. Kroger is a big chain, and Meijers is a discount warehouse.

5. Darn! It feels so unsafe to buy prepared food any more.
What in the heck can people in cities do? I've been scouting our neighborhood for a lot to use as a community garden and I can't find a square foot.

Between working too many hours and living in cities and these terrible food scandals, we've got a problem.

6. We sure do
What's next? I'm almost scared to go to the grocery store these days.

7. A general rule is to only shop the outer wall of the grocery.
You will find less processed foods, and you will save money. Sure you will have to take the plunge into brightly colored sodium, sugar, and tongue twister ingredients to get to things like dish soap and toilet paper, but avoiding the aisles is a good way to cut your risks, and costs.

9. Yep - it really is a win win.
You do have to actually cook from scratch, but that isn't a bad thing either. :)

11. Learn how to make soups and you are half way there.
Some times I think my chemistry set helped make me a good cook.

12. Good tip! My diet is very simple lately, tofu and vegetables.
But, condiments and pet food are still risky. Even produce isn't entirely safe -- safer at farmers' markets, maybe?

Last week I saw a segment on WJ where one congressman from PA (Seshak? Sp?) showed how they inject carbon monoxide into meat to make it look fresh. Holy cow, I'm glad I don't buy meat any more.

13. Meat is inefficient. Why process the grains through the cow first?
Cut out the middle cow, eat the soy beans and other grains and vegetables.
