City "Looks Like Guantanamo" after Two Months of Siege, Deputy Tells SloggerAfter nearly two months of a harsh security crackdown, the city of Falluja is facing an urgent humanitarian crisis, according to a member of the Iraqi parliament.
Referring to his remarks as an “S.O.S.,” MP Taha al-Luhaybi has told IraqSlogger that the siege of Falluja, which began May 21, has intensified in the last two weeks and is leading to serious humanitarian repercussions.

“Falluja looks like Guantanamo Prison,” al-Luhaybi said.
The curfew hits those with sensitive health issues the hardest, the MP said. Those who are most in need of medical care cannot make the long walk either to the hospital or to the designated minibus depot, and travel to a hospital is impossible during certain hours.
Even pregnant women in labor are forced to deliver at home, al-Luhaybi said, adding, “The health situation in the city is very bad".
