CNN Gives Laura Ingraham A Tryout

CNN gives Laura Ingraham a tryout.

TV Newser reports CNN has offered conservative radio host Laura Ingraham a one-week guest-host gig for the 8pm ET slot vacated by Paula Zahn. Atrios says contact CNN and “Ask them if someone who told her listeners to jam a voter hotline is really someone appropriate for ‘The most trusted name in news.’”

1. I Stopped Watching CNN After Their Lying Hit Piece On Michael Moore
I guess that I'll double not watch them now.

What the %^&* are they thinking? They're going far right just when the US is finally starting to go left?

25. I always have to add when I
stopped.. whenever this comes up. Nov 6, 2002..the day after the midterm election I realized what a lying piece of corporatewhoreshit all the cable shows were.

I know some have to watch for reconaissance but the less viewers they have the better for America.

3. Blowing Out The Cume...
This is kinda like having the fire sale before the business closes. Surely Ingraham comes real cheap (she probably paid her own broomstick fare) and will make a lot of noise in the blagosphere, but her ratings potential is equal to that of that of a "Celebrity Fitness Expert".

This will be fun to see if Laura goes after BillO...grab some of that audience CNN hopes she can bring...or if she tries to play right wing harlot and go after Olbermann...and drives what remains of CNN's "moderate" audience to MSNBC.

Hopefully Time/Warner will try out a Progressive host if they're running a cattle call in that time slot.

5. You know I guess CNN just doesn't give a fuck anymore -
You can't tell me that they haven't received MILLIONS of e-mails from upset people concerning their biased coverage.

And apparently, they could give a rat's ass.

Glen Beck and now this vile cow, Laura "never met a conservative dick I wouldn't suck" Ingraham.

I heard about three minutes of her radio show this morning.

"Democrats Bad!"
"Republicans Good!"
"Harry Reid spends your tax money wastefully"
"Republicans are responsible and honest!"

And the sheep all say "Baa"

8. damn
it just gets worse as time goes by

I am a 66 yr old granny and I get more news from comedy central than I do from so called news stations

If not for Keith Olberman, Bill Moyers and Amy Goodman , I would be getting all of it there.

thank goodness for DU and other blogs etc. We might be messy here at times , but the truth can at least be found here

We had all better face the fact that the majority of Americans want to watch crap instead of insighful, fact-based journalism. I am frankly, amazed Keith Olbermann is still on the air.

Leahy Calls On Justice Department To Investigate Laura Ingraham’s Phone Jamming

On election day, ThinkProgress posted audio of right-wing radio host Laura Ingraham urging her listeners to obstruct efforts to protect voting rights by jamming a free voter protection hotline.

Yesterday in a Senate Judiciary Commmittee hearing, Pat Leahy (D-VT) asked Wan Kim, Assistant Attorney General for the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, whether his department would be investigating Ingraham’s phone jamming. Kim said Ingraham’s actions sounded like a “voter fraud scheme,” but that they didn’t fall under his division’s responsibilities, which cover “voter access.” Watch it:

24. The woman who did this
Edited on Tue Jul-31-07 08:38 PM by dsc
According to David Brock, in his 2002 book Blinded by the Right, Ingraham, while writing for The Dartmouth Review in the mid-1980s, once attended meetings of a gay student organization for the purpose of publicly outing them in the newspaper. Ingraham secretly taped a meeting of the Gay Students Association, then published the transcript, identifying students by name and calling them "sodomites".

A decade later, on February 23, 1997, however, Ingraham wrote an essay in the Washington Post in which she announced significant changes in how she views gays and lesbians. This was motivated primarily by the experience of her own gay brother, Curtis, rumored to have been estranged from her for a time after the gay student group controversy, as he cared for his ailing partner:

“ In the ten years since I learned my brother Curtis was gay, my views and rhetoric about homosexuals have been tempered... because I have seen him and his companion, Richard, lead their lives with dignity, fidelity and courage.

has no business on TV. I put in both things but clearly my first is the problem. Unlike her, I will be fair. But someone who once used the press to basicly hound people, possibly to suicide, has no role on TV, none.

That's like a slap in the face to the left and a lot of independents in this country first they shove Glenn Beck in our face now they're looking at hiring this Bush bitch. Glenn Beck, CNN's right wing poster boy, isn't even pulling in the ratings and now they want to hire another rightwing nut job. They will have Beck, Grace and now Ingram, I swear I'm done CNN.

29. Some of our high profile democrats need to confront these so called news
organization, to continue to fill their prime time slots with only right wing talking heads is somewhat of an insult to democrats and our beliefs. And when all these these right wing talkers with television shows start parroting a Karl Rove talking point they possibly can effect an election. We should start a campaign claiming CNN is anti democratic party we should attach that label to them just like the Repubs did with that liberal media bull. We would be able to prove our claim by pointing to their pro republican anchors, and the lack of a true liberal anchor. If it's ratings their after they should offer a show to Bill Maher I'm sure he would have a following and he's no more controversial than Beck and Ingram.
