Poll question: How long until there are cheesecake photos on page 2 of the Wall Street Journal?
Today is the first day of the death of another American institution.

Whether you're a capitalist or not, you surely appreciate that this paper was well respected and quite honest, even if their editorial pages were sometimes a bit batshit.

And what about the Dow Jones Industrial Average? That's VERY much an American institution that I suspect very few connect to the WSJ. Indeed, the feds use the DJI as a barometer of the economy.

But now, it seems, Rupert and his personal Machiavelli, Roger Ailes, are set to put their mark on the company. I'm seeing the putting of their mark much like a dog marking a fire hydrant ..... but that's just me.

The serious question today is: How long until there are cheesecake photos on page 2 of the Wall Street Journal?

1. Other
If they scrap the editorial page and put the cheesecake there, that could only be a good thing.

2. After the fake stock charts listing American Idol contestants rather than companies....

3. I envision charts and graphs shaped like breasts
They'll have the Stock Babe giving the "Hot Tip" of the day.

This would really be funny if it weren't so seriously sad. The WSJ has already lost all credibility -- overnight.

I guess that's my point. How long will it take until they slide into second rate status?

I see this as a HUGE opportunity for a new entity to fill the role of the Dow Jones Average and then use that to springboard into some new form of serious, trusted investment/economic news and analysis.

I suspect lots of people like Faux newz for entertainment, but would still prefer (demand!) their financial news straight and unadulterated.

It also gives the second tier newspapers, like the Financial Times a leg up to make a run at the US market.

With the death of the WSJ and the already-in-place-and-increasing irrelevancy of US-centric financial markets, we REALLY are in a second rate status as a nation already.

Edit to change the misused word "roll" to the correct word "role"

If you haven't seen this movie, rent it now.

And be prepared to weep for your country...I don't think it will take 500 years.

7. Consider me informed
Never having read an actual Murdoch publication, I only guessed at Page 2.
