tweety: "Gore could have won in 2000 if
he had come across more like a real person in the debates." as if tweety has any clue of what a "real person" is like. and, by the way dummy, gore DID win! :puke:

1. Gore did win and would have been President if Karl Rove was not involved.

Tweety might have an audience if he came across more like a real
person.

2. It the SCOTUS hadn't stepped in and 'selected' our Prez for us and end-runned the Constitution
and will of the people, then all the FL votes would have been counted and investigations into what Greg Palast uncovered would have begun years ago also. The Truth Will Out.

3. So if he came across as an incompetent retard he would've won?
The things you learn from Tweety.

4. Tweety voted for Bush in 2000. He hasn't admitted he was an idiot
to do so. I think he still plays mind-games with himself to justify his idiocy during that election. He was the worst during the 2000 election season.

6. What a jerk. Tweety just doesn't want to step up and fess up to his own superficial
role in that 2000 mess. WE should have been allowed to make up our own minds about Gore. Instead, Matthews kept pointing out the things that he, a beltway pundit, found worthy to comment on, which was superficial bullshit tags.

7. I agree with Tweety on this one. Al could have won by a big enough margin
that there couldn't have been any questions, similar to what happened in 2006.

I've never understood why ther was such a difference between the Al Gor you talk to face to face and the one standing before a mike. He STILL does it too. When he's relaxed and just talking to people he's a very nice, friendly and personable guy, but put a mike in his hand and suddenly he sounds like he's back on the Senate Floor!

I could understand that when the campaign first began, but after all the meetings, speeches, and TV appearances, I would have thought he could have put that Senate speak behind him.

9. give me gore's intelligent "senate speak"
any day over the idiocy coming out of the current white house occupants and even tweety himself. tired of having to 'DUMB DOWN' to suit the lowest common denominator.

20. I don't personally disagree with you, but I also believe it's sad but true
that no matter what positions and plans candidates state, the majority of people end up voting for the person they "like". Have you ever heard people say "I like Bill Clinton", and when you ask them why, they say I don't know, I just LIKE HIM. Remember the "Who would you rather have a beer with?" question from the 2000 campaign? I already said it's sad but it's true!

10. I agree with Tweety, sad to say. Failure to connect on a personal level
is ultimately the candidate's fault. Gore has it in him, but he does go into "Senator" mode when the heat is on, as someone else just said. It's a shame, but it's there. The media exaggerated the flaw into an all-encompassing "wooden" persona, but there's a kernel of truth to it.

21. In no way did it disqualify him for the office, of course.
And in no way does it change the fact that he's a very good and smart man, who certainly COULD be open, relaxed and funny in the right environment. Not sure why anyone would take this analysis personally.

11. Gore would have won the EC
if he didn't push Clinton aside. That would have given Arkansas and the nonsense in Florida wouldn't have mattered.

12. Gore did win.
However, Mr. Matthews makes a valid point: the first debate in particular was damaging to the Gore campaign, and allowed Bush to come close enough that stealing Florida put him in office.

why is Tweety talking about Gore and bringing up old "he's wooden" right wing MSM talking points? does he know something we don't?

18. Chris Matthews, like all pundits, should be embarassed at the level of his ignorance.
He really should read Ronald Dworkin's http://www.nybooks.com/articles/13954in">"A Badly Flawed Election," in The New York Review of Books. It's not just stupid bloggers who hate Bush who say Gore won. The fact is: he did.
