NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) -- Fake-news program "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" is taking a page from serious news organizations this week with on-the-scene reports from the war zone in Iraq.

<Rob Riggle usually reports backed by a studio green screen. But he actually went to Iraq for his latest reports.>

Correspondent Rob Riggle, who has combat experience as a major in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, spent five days in Iraq last week with "Daily Show" writer Kevin Bleyer and field producer Glenn Clements. They went with a USO sketch comedy tour known as "Operation Feel the Heat" -- armed with small, handheld cameras -- and also brought back video that will be used for "The Daily Show" about the troops and their lives in Iraq.

Although "The Daily Show" spends time on topics related to Iraq and often has one of its correspondents appear against a green screen that simulates the Middle Eastern country, it's the first time the show has gone the extra step and visited Iraq.

Riggle, Clements and Bleyer visited several bases -- including Balad Air Force Base near Baghdad and two forward operating bases -- over five days. They performed with other comedians in 120-degree heat on makeshift stages, including a basketball court, then in between shot short videos for "The Daily Show."

MSNBC also called Daily Show a "fake news show."

Ironic to say the least...

5. About the "fake news" label. . .
. . .it appears it was put there by the source of the story, the Hollywood Reporter not CNN or MSNBC.

6. They are a fake news program: Jon Steward admits to that
He also admits that it's funny that they happen to report the truth. (Not a direct quote.)

7. No doubt, but for CNN to claim they aren't fake news... well, there's the rub.

9. If you want a fake news show, watch KKKKarl's "interviews"
Edited on Mon Aug-20-07 04:32 PM by JDPriestly
yesterday. He was totally faking it, and was never called on it. Was KKKKarl ever nervous. Watch the body language. Listen to when his voice sounds confident and when it sounds nervous. KKKKarl is a LLLLiar in my opinion. The jokes and exaggerations on the Daily Show don't come near to equaling the lies of KKKKArl and CCCCompany (in my opinion of course).

3. For some reason I think this will be some of the best TV
They will definitely have some fun and laugh WITH our troops, but they will also most likely entertain us and respect the troops with a level a TRUTH the alleged real news operations would never deliver.
