7. Nonsense. They only represent the current opinions of those who bother to respond.
That's why even national opinion polls are ones I'd take with a grain of a bucket full of salt.

I have been given this response several times in regard to internet poll about Kucinich...

I agree that they are not perfect indicators of the electorate

but they do mean SOMETHING

over 10,000 respondents voting for a particular candidate means something

maybe it means that candidate has more spirited supporters who zealously vote again and again for their candidate...

maybe it means more...

don't discount them entirely is all I'm saying

16. I don't see anyone claiming DU polls as proof of anything.
Well except for Kucinich supporters who used to cite DU polls as proof of his popularity.

But I don't think that is what you were going for.

26. You should ignore them if you feel that way...
DU polls poll DU, and as such, give a darn good report back on what DU thinks. No one ever claimed they were accurate for the entire population.

I love the DU polls!

If you get them removed, I'll set my marauding band of Peeps bunnies after you!!

34. Polls are only used for two purposes
1. flamebait
2. opportunities to revel in or encourage groupthink

every now and then there is an interesting one, but only very very rarely.

They represent the opinions of DUers who are online at the time the poll is capable of being seen, actually see the poll, are interested enough in its content to click into it and tend to vote in online polls.

That's gotta mean something...

Edit: Content.
