Bella Cucina Recalls 'Death by Chocolate' Cookies

AUGUST 31, 2007 -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall Wednesday of Bella Cucina's Death by Chocolate cookies due to the undeclared presence of walnuts.

The cookies were sold at stores in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Utah, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Victoria, British Columbia.

The cookies being recalled were made on June 14, 2007, and also July 5, 2007. The UPC code on the bag is 19193 00020.

No lead, antifreeze or nuclear waste. This counts as progress in my book.

Because, for me at least, it COULD be death by walnut in cookie.

(I'm allergic to tree nuts, all of them).

Labeling must be accurate for some of us.
