Do you believe in God? Are you gay? Have you cheated on your spouse? What's your position on abortion? Should gays be allowed to marry? Have you contributed to Republican candidates? What kind of conservative are you?

Welcome to Bush's Department of Justice. Those are just some of the questions that investigators think may have been asked during interviews for both career and political positions at the Department over the past three years.

They come from a questionnaire (pdf http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/documents/ig_survey.pdf) sent out from the Department's inspector general and Office of Professional Responsibility, the two offices conducting the joint investigation of politicization at the DoJ. The questionnaire (as reported yesterday by Bloomberg http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&sid=aTYarsI0tW44&refer=us and The Washington Post http://blog.washingtonpost.com/capitol-briefing/2007/08/document_shows_widening_probe.html) recently went out to an untold number of people who'd applied for spots at the DoJ. Investigators are trying to get a hold on how widely politicized the hiring process was at the Department.

Former Department White House liaison Monica Goodling admitted to "crossing the line" (http://www.tpmmuckraker.com/archives/003275.php) with regard to career employee hiring decisions ......

the government work force with 'Christians'. We should find out if Pat Robertson or someone at his 'school' wrote the questions (just as lobbyists write the legislation). THEN, WE SHOUD INTERVIEW EVERYONE WHO DIDN'T GET THE JOBS. THIS IS RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION. And in 1775, they would have probably called in religious persecution.

3. It certainly is religious promotion, and goes to motive of USG politization
It is not all just about the money.

When the preachers become the lawyers and judges, the out-group is in deep trouble.
