Tone-deaf to reality

I attended former Iraq Ambassador Paul Bremer's talk at the St. Louis Speaker Series. It was no surprise to listen to a superb speaker lay out a thorough (if not a tired and perhaps one-sided) case for toppling Saddam Hussein.

However, he was an active participant in the bungled management of post-war Iraq and had been advised by at least two sources of the need for a large commitment of U.S. troops early on to provide security. It is more than obvious that he, like the Bush administration, created a situation that was and is far beyond his ability to manage. Either that or he is completely "tone deaf" to reality.

3. The case for toppling Saddam was manufactured

There was no intelligence bungle, mistake, misunderstanding, or anything else other than calculated lies.

Beyond that, I wonder if Bremer mentioned anything about his privatizaton actions the the wholesale looting of Iraq.
