Talk Me Down,Please
I'm on the board of my co-op. A fellow board member just revealed that she doesn't read but one in ten of the emails that are issued for board business, but sends it all to her "committee", because she doesn't have the time.

This has done nothing for her reputation among dissenting board members like me. No wonder she appears naive, out of touch, and gullible. No wonder she's being played like a fiddle. No wonder her committee is turning out shit.

This is the American way, 21st century style, in a nutshell. This is what our Congress does. They hang out with the majority, because it's easy. It requires no thought, no oversight, no data, and no responsibility.

We are doomed.

1. Sounds to me like she just admitted "dereliction of duty".
Grounds for removal right there, IMHO.

4. I Agree, Dick. Unfortunately, I'm in the Minority
and the board president advocates violating signed contracts with the co-op members.

3. She's a Do-Gooder Child Psychologist in Her First Term
and the board is cutting into her billable hours.

The co-op is so dysfunctional, people don't read the newsletters, vote, attend meetings, or run for office. They bitch about things they don't even have the facts on, and blame the wrong people. They swap fantastic rumors, and never ask for an answer from the board.

Too many low-level U of Michigan clerical people live here. That's another breed. And a lot of elderly: deaf, blind, and demented or otherwise impaired.

5. Well at least she doesn't have staffers respond with semi-apropos form letters.
Like every response I've gotten from writing Congress.

6. Uh, just wondering... what's a co-op?

Sorry, I just looked it up online and now I have a vague idea. But, I'm also curious, what kind of emails are "issued for board business" and what is she supposed to do herself in response (rather than sending them to committee)? And what does 'dissenting board member' mean? And what is the significance of her being a "do gooder"? What does "first term" mean?

I apologize for letting my naivety intrude, but my curiousity is nagging me about it now...
