3. The pot belly doesn't look all that abnormal from the photos

She'll grow out of that and into those enormous feet. The main thing I've seen with shelter animals is upper respiratory stuff. If she's not coughing, you probably got her before she could develop it.

5. my partner is a worry wart when it comes to animals

the pup was wandering around for who knows how long before she was brought to shelter - could have gone without eating for a day or two, and then pigged out at the shelter

could also be worms...

we'll find out tomorrow when we go to the vet
