Have you had enough?
Edited on Tue Oct-16-07 10:14 PM by nadinbrzezinski
I fear that this will continue until we've had it and are vocal about it

It won't stop until we all simply say enough is enough, PERIOD

We don't have leaders...

It is up to us.

PERIOD

2. Well we elected them and the hopes were there
now we have all kinds of excuses and even possibly solid reasons of why not (and no they have nothing to do with votes)

So it is time we take it upon ourselves

An orange revolution if you will...

5. How to operationalize direct citizen control is another matter.
I'll admit I don't know how to do it, or even where to begin. All I know is that when I see bullshit, for whatever reason it is being spewed, I expose it. Conversely when I see honesty and integrity, as in Dennis Kucinich, I support it, political consequences be damned.

6. We have leaders, but the fact is leaders are worthless without the ranks
doing the actual fighting. I agree it is up to us at this point. But how? What do we do, where do we begin and who is going to lead the ranks into the battle of a lifetime? One not many of us have ever had to even think about in our lifetime.

10. The first thing to decide is what is the prize you are willing to pay?
that will tell you how far you want to go

The second is

We need to start having direct peaceful action

Martin taught is... and Ghandi did as well

There are levels of resistance

And definitely I will counsel NOT buying christmas gifts, for example... and if you do... find AMERICAN MADE products preferably from progressive companies, or union made

I will counsel reducing consumption to what is needed

And silent constant resistance

Oh and of course keep writing them letters to congress, papers et al

And remember, we wil loose our means of communications

I will contend that now media concerns such as clear media channel, will divest of liberal radio stations becuase they want to kill the movement in the bud

So we have to find alternate means

It starts with you making small changes and educating yourself

And not letting yourself being cowed

And actually the firest step, the absolute first step, is to break the silence and talk to your neighbors, since isolation is killing us too

But we have a few among us who are working to disrupt anything we do.

8. what about confronting our so called Leaders and come out
Edited on Wed Oct-17-07 12:37 PM by alyce douglas
and say what are they being threatened with? that with a sorry excuse of man who is at 24% approval rating and the Congress is at 11% doesn't it register with the "leaders" we are not being heard, and we are several yards ahead of this sickening Congress.

Gutless

9. Best be prepared to carry a gun.
Taking to the streets in "peaceful protest" is not going to get us anywhere anymore. But they've already got us exactly where they want us I'm afraid. I would take huge groups of us to come together, to organize, to arm ourselves. Strength in numbers. I just don't see it happening. Leaving is also another option. I hear Amsterdam is nice...

13. We have to a point
but the first step we need to break is the incredible sense of isolation that exists in the society

Wolf didn't identify it, but it is one of the tools

Actually, I'd say the most important tool

But it may come down to that... and direct action may lead to violence... I agree

15. Maybe distributing flyer's in our communities might break the isolation.
I don't know anymore, and I'm reaching for anything, any idea short of stockpiling ammunition and food at this point. We could start a movement with a message. Print it and post it everywhere. I'd like to start organizing some town-hall meetings in mt community, but I'm surrounded by mostly right-wing lunatics who would label me a traitor. I don't care about that so much, but I'm seriously outnumbered when they start vandalizing my home. God we need help.

14. Strength in numbers is correct, and someone else said
we have never had to confront something like this, but it is getting to the point, that we must do something for our own survival, just words I know, but until everyone gets on the same page maybe we can rise to the occasion.
