Funny I had a great meeting Friday on the future of launch vehicles and the shuttle and NASA came up not at all. Worst launch vehicle ever. GROUND IT PLEASE!

11. Went out to the back yard to watch.

Couldn't see much due to the cloud cover. Only saw a little bit of a smoke trail between the clouds.

Good luck to all.

15. I feel like many of NASA's shuttles are
held together with spit & duct tape (figuratively speaking), which scares the hell out of me. :( (Of course, I'm probably overly paranoid/biased because of the Challenger incident, which happened the day I was born - I grew up hearing about it, and a few days after my 17th birthday the Columbia went down.) :( I hope everything will be all right.

17. You youngin'!
Edited on Tue Oct-23-07 12:08 PM by Forkboy
I remember the day for a couple of reasons. One, the tragedy itself. And two because the day before my friend, who was sick of the endless stories about it, said jokingly, "I wish the damn thing would just blow up!"

When he came in the next day (I hadn't heard...I was probably sleeping off party #4,307) he tossed the paper on my lap with a headline about it and started crying.

18. They now use HUBBLE and other high tech toys to check
the good thing is by tomorrow, they will be at the ISS. From there, they can stay for a pretty long time, and if there are repairs to be made, doing it there is better than elsewhere. AND they can always use the life rafts that the USSR built and that russia continues to use cheaply, effectively, and efficiently. Unlike our hybrid bus-truck-passengerlifter and general cluster fuck of a design.
