Does anyone outside of the government or the corporate media truly believe that?

I find it to be ridiculous, but that's just me.

Since I would think that most, if not all, DU posters with Bush in their screen name do it in a manner derogatory towards Bush....why is Durty so opposed to this? Is she standing up for Bush or just trying to knock down and divide DUers? Suspicious indeed.

2. I believe it
Why?

Well, though polls are far from perfect, if they're done correctly and under strict adherance to the laws of statistics, they can be quite accurate at best and a good indicator of trends at least.

It is not one outlier poll showing Hillary as leading by a comfortable margin, it is the consensus of all the polls.

Therefore it's reasonable to assume that she is the frontrunner, though the margin of the lead may be smaller than portrayed.

18. Well, how about the poll that shows that fully 50% of Dems have not even paid attention to the race
yet? Maybe they will just follow the leaders. But it is sad that before half of the voters even pay attention, the poll apparatus and media have painted this election as virtually decided. Something is definately wrong with this picture!

I used to be a big follower of polls. Even a believer in them. Now, I see them as totally unnecessary! What good do they do, anyhow? The only poll that counts is on election day. One of the big problems with polls is that they can lead to a self-fulfilling prophesy. When the other half who haven't been paying attention wake up from their slumber, chances are they are gonna just go along with the bandwagon that the polling has created.

Isn't there more to a campaign than polls?

3. Who knows?
I've seen polls that say she leads by 17% to polls that say she leads by 25%...I don't think anyone really knows. Or at least I don't.

I tend to think it is much closer than what the polls are saying but I've no proof...just a gut feeling. The media obviously wants her but I think it will be a closer race. Of course, I'd love to see Kucinich get the nomination just to see the media heads explode (I like Kucinich a lot)

She does have the name recognition strength. She is not my favorite of the candidates. Edwards is. But he and Obama have both run abysmal campaigns. They're snapping at Hillary and biting their own tails. They've made idiotic gaffes. Edwards' latest is to go after the idiotic U of North Carolina student news clip that would ordinarily cancel itself out anyway. Obama's been unimpressive in the debates. Hillary's taken care of business in nearly every one.

39. No. Moochy.
Where I was going that Pastiche423 is most likely so isolated from the Democratic Party rank-and-file (stuck in the netroots) that he doesn't even communicate with the heart of the party. His Democratic Party is probably defined by DU, Kos, Atrios, etc., instead of the majority of Democrats. My suggestion is that he is far to the left of our party, not to the right.

Hillary Clinton has deep, strong support within our party, and the fact that Pastiche423 knows no one in the grassroots of the party is very revealing.

It was not clear to me what you meant. I am not a mover and shaker in the political machine of the democratic party.

I don't know anyone who supports Hillary either, for what it's worth. I'll vote for her if she gets the nomination, because she looks good in white imperial lace. And who doesnt want to be a part of the biggest disaster since the titanic....

...to be clear i think she will lose the general, because of her negatives among would-be fence sitting (R) voters who would have voted for someone with less "known" qualities.

51. Something to consider ....
On one hand; Hillary will 'energize' republicans, and bring a percentage to the polls who would have normally stayed home ....

On the other hand; Some GOP women will cross the line and vote for Hillary simply because she is a woman .... Being the only woman in the race, this gender effect can only exist for Hillary ....

So; ..... How many disillusioned GOP voters will get off their asses and vote against Hillary (who would have otherwise stayed home) compared to how many GOP women who will vote for Hillary because she is a woman ...... ?????

I think Hillary is more electable than many here think ..... Her name recognition is unbeatable, and the triangulation that is (rightly) despised here will help her in the general election by drawing in moderate GOP and Independents who are sick and tired of Bush ....

Right or wrong ... Love her or hate her .... She is running a strong campaign for the moment ..... Given that she has been taking flak for decades now, I doubt they can hurl anything new at her, and so I see no reason to presume she is going to sink ....

42. Even if 36% is right, which it is not, Clinton would have to get 51% of 64% to Win...
Winning 51% of 64% of possible voters(All Voters LESS Those Who Would Never Vote For Hillary) is beyond unlikely --it is pretty near impossible).

That would mean she would have win 4 of 5 votes cast by the possible voters.

36% of voters won't vote for ANY democrat. At least that many won't vote for any republican. You can't claim the 50% number as meaningful, then when shown to be wrong, claim that 36% is still deadly.

Your math is just wrong. She won't need 80% of the vote to win. She'll still need only 50%+1 in a two-way race.

45. I guess you don't do math.... my mathematical calculations are accurate.
And the 50% number is meaningful. No matter who they are -- Repubs, Dems, or Independents/Undecideds and Unaffiliated Voters -- subtract 50% from them as equal to the 50% who would never vote for Clinton in the general election, and you see what trouble she will be in.

I simply took your number 36%, and pointed out she would have to capture 4 of every 5 votes from those who 'might' vote for her in the general election to win.

You may not like math, but it is correct.

1) So that enough "votes" can be cast for NineElevenani that the upcoming election theft can be dismissed, using the 2006 "election" as an example that "our elections aren't corrupt".

2) That the Royal Bushies have decided to give the Imperial Subjects of Amerika a rest from constant vampirization, to sort of let the coffers refill so they can again be looted in 2013. But I cannot make myself believe that. I cannot believe that Bushie Monsters, who spent so mcuh money and worked so hard to Seize and Destroy the Old Republic of America will give it up to someone one a member of the Royal Bushie Inner Circle.
