9. Yep, AEI is the new PNAC.
Their "scholarship" and guidance will send this country straight off a cliff.

15. PNAC was spun out of AEI
AEI's been around since 1943. Look at the scholars and fellows -- lots of neocons, including PNAC co-founders William Kristol and Robert Kagan.

Then there's this amusing assertion at the top of the page:

"Like most think tanks that maintain non-profit status under the federal tax code, AEI is officially nonpartisan and takes no institutional positions on pending legislation or other policy questions."

Nonpartisan? What a joke. Their non-profit status is in need of SERIOUS review.

14. Duh - he is boxed into a corner - big news mags paint him as turning to Daddy
to save the Iraq war and his presidency (in anticipation of the Iraq Study Group's report) - and while it might give him a policy way to shift the direction of the war - the whole report criticized his war (and we can't have that!). Then two little known folks - one a prominent AEI "scholar" write a paper about the surge - and suddenly it is national policy. Of course he would say this per AEI - in his "I am Right!" mind they have pulled his fat out of the fire (of course that isn't reality - it won't work) of course he would admire them. At this second in time -it was from their staple of neoconory that gave him a "plan" that didn't discredit his previous plans; for jr - the only criteria for "good policy" is that it is sycophantish to jr's current and previous policies.
