1. Difi is counting on him doing nothing
Remember that she was briefed on the extent of the torture when she was on the intelligence committee.

2. He might not - he's got a little more than a year
Who knows what will happen in between now and then.

3. But, but, but...he said he would stand up to Bush. He lied to us!

4. Here is the loophole --WE won't be hearing much of anything from Mukasey....
If the WH can prevent him from using 'waterboard' and pronouncing it as torture at this juncture, you can bet they won't allow him to mention anything even close to controversial --on the grounds that it is essential to protecting national security and the war on terror.

I predict silence.

Oh, I have no doubt he's going to get a workout. That's why
everyone's claiming a lack of an AG is hurting the investigations:

Now, if he tows the party line, which wouldn't surprise me because he's already doing that, some people may have to admit to their idiocy while we backslide some more. :-(

5. Didn't Schumer recently say he wish he supported Alito filibuster and now regrets that
he didn't?

I don't believe he has any regrets at all and his 'regret' over Alito was more bullshit for those susceptible to believing his recently found 'regret' while more informed Dems know damn well that Schumer actually LED the attacks on Kerry and undermined the filibuster effort the entire time.

Schumer carries water for the powermongers in our party who don't want THEIR fingerprints to be seen.

7. Deal Me In Oh This Action
I've said previously that Mukasey isn't from the boooshie texas cabal or the cheney cone o' silence group. Since Ashcroft left, it's been Addington whose been calling the shots in the DOJ (with an assist by Rove). It'll be interesting when Mukasey runs up against the OVP...or if one of his moves to promote or name a career prosecutor over a political one is questioned. Thus I suspect we'll see Mukasey come back to haunt these bastards.

If we're gonna jump in the pool, count me in for sometime next Spring...once the primaries are done and this regime becomes the lamest of lame ducks.
