1. "Only" a 3% job loss?
What idiot said that?

And, if this passes, I hope any member of Congress that votes for it is included in that 3%/

4. ON C-Span this a.m. one of our new "Progressive" House Electeds was on
talking about how terrible this bill is for both Peru and US Workers. HE's from Illinois and worked as a fabric cutter in a textile plant for 13 years...he watched his job leave and Maytag Appliance move to Mexico. HE said only two textile plants left and one of them is closing in December. He was a great speaker even though the C-Span hostess kept grilling him on how much "The P-Resident" thinks this bill is so important to our economy.

Apparently the Dems are split on support but some reporter from "The Hill" said it's expected to pass.

:-( That the debate is being held so late at night...makes me think it's like what the Repugs used to do...putting the dirty laundry in the wash at midnight and when you wake up...it's all done..

look at it this way, far more people are home to watch it at this time than during the day (not that anyone but us does.) ;)

2. Peru trade agreement is the only one where it might make sense to pass it - Peru made all
changes requested as being needed to get a "fair" trade agreement

My problem with Peru is that I do not trust their courts or procecutors to enforce their own laws.

If you assume that Peru will now follow its own laws it could be passed.

But I do not know what happens if we find they are still ignoring all those worker rights laws.

6. A couple of Dems have made the argument that the workers rights in Peru can't
be verified...so it will end up with them getting shafted...because 'fair trade' for workers can't be enforced. The Dem Rep i heard this a.m. said that this agreement needs to wait until all the details can be worked out but Bush is pushing it...hard.

The Dem Rep said that this Agreement needs to wait until we have a new President...What's the rush?

9. True - there should be no rush - I'd like the enforcement procedure spelled out - in a side
agreement if necessary.

3. Only 3% ---about 10 million jobs. No big deal (sarcasm)
It is now time for our Representatives to offer their sacrifices
at the altar Of Corporatism, Payback for all those big money
donations.

They will kick the American Worker in teeth and give the back
of their hand to silly activists.

5. Right now that tool Kline (aka Colonel Klink) from Minnesota's 2nd district is speaking
He's claiming this bill will benefit American workers. That fact that he's for the bill, can only mean it's a really, really bad idea.

7. Marcy Kaptur (D) Burning up the floor standing up for Workers...and Neumont Minining
the Gold Mining Company has refused to give the Peruvian Miners a raise ever. While Gold is Up and they've increased the Divident to their Shareholders.

She said she's an "Old Style Democrat" who fights for Workers Rights! :applause: You go Marcy!

BTW: the Repug up now thanks Hoyer for bringing the bill to the floor...also thanked the Repug Minority Leader.

11. Just watched Charlie Rangel singing the praise of this bill
Charlie owns this bill, & it's a disgrace. This is a bi-partisan sell out of American workers.

BTW, I think the vote is tomorrow.
