Dr Collins announced will not be granting leave for charges to be laid under the "Terrorism Suppression Act" against 12 people arrested on October 15th. After reading out a prepared statement Dr Collins took questions from the media. Bail applications for the 10 accused who remain in custody will be held in Auckland District Court tomorrow.

This is what is supposed to happen in a proper democracy where the rule of law is operational. I must admit some of us down here have been feeling fairly nervous about whether that was still true for the past three weeks.

2. I am down here too....
Be interesting to see what the repercussions are going to be.

On radio a few minutes ago the police commissioner said that the interception warrants they had been using - against activists for months if not years - are no longer operational.

I expect the $8million wasted cost of all this will create some bitter memories for the police in years to come.
