"Ill. governors' office rocked by scandal":
Story

I know many expect Rahm to run in 2010, too.

1. How about not branding him as a loser BEFORE ANYONE HAS VOTED.

2. I Didn't...
... I simply used the conditional "if." There is life after losing the nomination (e.g., Gore has done pretty darn well since losing it in 1988).

3. That would be a wise course of action
for anyone with presidential ambition.

I think he'd win. I think he'd have a good record as governor. I think then he'd have a great shot at the White House.

5. That Was My Thinking...
... exactly.

The added bonus would be seeing Rahm have to actually break a sweat.

4. Many hope IL AG Lisa Madigan will run, too
I don't know what Obama has done for IL since landing in the US Senate. I don't know that he gives a damn about this state except as a launching pad. When I write to Dick Durbin and Jan Schakowsky, I always get responses. Obama - nothing, ever, even before he announced his run.

One thing is certain: I won't be voting for Blagojevic again.

6. if the republicans can find a decent candidate
they will take the governorship in illinois. obama will stay the senator from this state till he decides to quit or becomes the president.

9. That's still a damn big "if"
Oberweis will try to push in again and this time he might win the primary but he still won't win the general. I can't even think of another viable GOP name. Certainly not Judy. Thank God.

7. Your subject line had me confused for a minute
I couldn't imagine my idiot governor even attempting to run for president in 2010.

Obama for Governor? Not bad.

10. I Think It Would...
... negate the "experience" question for a future run.

13. Unfortunately, Obama's not corrupt enough to be governor of Illinois.
We have standards to keep up here.

:sarcasm:

15. Anyone but Blagojevich at this point.
I wouldn't be a damned bit surprised if our current Governor is under indictment a year from now.

17. Governor is a step down from US Senator, but...
... he'd miss fewer votes as Governor. Being Senator evidently takes up too much of his time.

18. Depends on the State...
... I think a state like Illinois presents enough complexity to argue otherwise.
