War Hero's Bro at my kids Middle School Vets Day Ceremony : "Don't join the Army..."
Edited on Thu Nov-08-07 05:39 PM by elehhhhna
My daughter attends a middle school which is named after a local WWII hero. At today's Veterans Day Ceremony (presentations were made, honors given, the HS ROTC guys came, yada yada yada) the War Hero's brother told the kids about the brother and wrapped up by mentioning the futility of our "War" in Iraq, then said "Don't join the Army. We have enough heroes. Our cemetaries are full of them."

Wow. And this is in Texas, people.

2. WOW is right
This gives me hope.

If this can happen in Texas, maybe there is hope after all.

Thanks

4. I know a guy who runs an ROTC program
He teaches all the leadership skills and the physical training, he teaches them to be good citizens, he tells them it will serve them well in their future careers to have those skills. And he tells the kids don't enlist.

5. Good for him
I imagine it went over like a dog watching a card trick. But we've got to start thinking differently if the race is going to survive. We either finish with war or war will finish us.

6. I hope someone buys him dinner
I'd be hugging him if he was here in one of our schools and he said that

7. It's good to see people are finally waking up to the truth.

You don't have to join the military to be a good American.
