i remember in Spring 2003 - right before Shock and Awe - the kids in Iraq
Were being interviewed.

They were out in the boondocks somewhere and the reporter and her film crew said, "What do you kids like?"

And one of the kids starting dancing like He was in a MTV video and the reporter said, "So do you kids like Britney Spears?"

And these eight and nine year olds started dancing and flinging their bodies about like Hip Hop masters. One of them came up to the camera and gave a big smile, super close up, and said, "I LOVE BRITNEY!"

And it reminded me of the Universal Kid - when my son was that age, he was all into the "Moon Walk" of Michael Jackson.

And they were so happy and so pure, and now I have to wonder, where are they and what has become of their world?

1. Sadly...
Displaced
Dead
In the Prison Camp that Americans have hundreds of kids
Orphans
Hardened and seething to get a chance to attack Americans

* doesn't care about American Children suffering through Katrina, Orphanages, child abuse, starving..

He sure as hell doesn't care about Iraqi children whose lives he destroyed...

2. They probably don't get much MTV anymore,
But they at least have our soldiers to play with and show them how much we care for them.

a "T" - even using the expression of innocence tht sucks its victims in.

I felt sick seeing it. And the comments were even worse. As far as the kid ending up in the water, One person comments that this ethnic group needs cleaning up.

4. I didn't check the comments,
glad I didn't. I think the kid was trusting him right up to the point he dropped him in.

I did see another Iraqi who will never trust americans again.

5. The kid's friend is saying somethhing like "You hurt him" right??
I wondered if he limped around for a couple days. And somewhat prayed he didn't break his leg.

Rolling Stone magazine posted a story about our service people in Iraq. Some service people use the camels for shooting practice. Also, they take the antennae off their jeeps and Humvees and slash kids running after the vehicles with them.

And that was an article that was supposed to be making our troops "human" to the reader.

6. That is what it sounded like.
Makes me feel ashamed to have served, even thou it was 20 years ago.

7. I know. I often wonder what my father would think - he had stories about some of the
German kiddies in those places where he pulled duty after the fall of Berlin.

And they were all stories about giving things to the kids - or about how the kids helped them in return for the small favors of candy etc that the GI's did back in the day.
