Act Now: New Bill Could Stop Big Media

We did it!

A few weeks ago you urged Congress to hold the Federal Communications Commission accountable to the public, and now they're taking action.

Sens. Byron Dorgan (D-N.D.), Trent Lott (R-Miss.) and several other senators introduced groundbreaking, bipartisan legislation that would hold the FCC accountable and put the people ahead of Big Media.

This legislation would force the FCC to give the public a real voice in this process, and it would make the agency address the dismal state of female and minority ownership before changing any rules to unleash more media concentration. As you know, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin is trying to sneak through a massive giveaway to Big Media before the Bush administration leaves office.

The FCC can't rule on media consolidation without first listening to the public and addressing the lack of diversity on our airwaves.
