Rep. Bob Allen found guilty of soliciting prostitution
VIERA - A jury today found state Rep. Bob Allen guilty of soliciting sex from an undercover police officer in July.

The jury deliberated 3 1/2 hours before finding him guilty of agreeing to pay $20 to perform a sex act on the officer. The charge is a second-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in the county jail and a $500 fine.

Allen, R-Merritt Island, did not take the stand in his own defense. He vehemently denied the charges as he left the courthouse.

1. Why is this a crime again.
"Selling is legal. Fucking is legal. Why isn't selling fucking legal"

George Carlin says it best. Get the government out of our bedrooms, even if you are a conservative republican...

2. Public bathrooms are a little different
I don't want to answer a 7 year old kid's questions when he sees something like that going on.

3. If prostitution was legal, then the repubs wouldnt need to go to the bathrooms to get their jollies.
Correct, I dont want this happening in public bathrooms, but I see nothing wrong with the Bunny Ranch or something similiar.

4. Deeply closeted married men
would still avoid male prostitution houses the way they avoid gay bars now. For one thing, they deny they're gay; for another, they don't want to be seen; for another, they kid themselves that anonymous contacts in bathrooms and public parks will be with other deeply closeted married men and somehow safer than hustlers or bar pickups. They couldn't be more wrong.

I'm afraid this stuff will continue to be policed as long as shame based religion continues to keep these men so deeply in denial.

6. Disposable Villain of Hypocrisy
Made villainous not by his Repug sentiments (that's just bad decision-making) but by his hypocrisy.

And no, public restrooms are not acceptable sex farms, whichever way you fly.
