31% Want Cheney Impeached
Saturday, November 10, 2007

Thirty-one percent (31%) of Americans say that Vice President Dick Cheney should be impeached and removed from office. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 40% disagree while 29% are not sure.

That's a good start, with a lot of undecideds up for grabs.

4. That 31% are the ones who have been paying attention
If the rest really knew what was going on I would bet it would be 70%. That would only leave the 30% morons who believe that this bunch can do no wrong.

5. That seems really low to me
I wonder how the question was phrased.

On second thought, I'll bet a lot of Americans just don't realize what Cheney has done. Bush has been the public face for this administration (after all, it's HIS administration). I wonder if more of America would be in favor of impeaching Bush than Cheney?

7. Agree
Last summer there was a similar poll, IIRC, that asked a more pointed question about Cheney and the answer was closer to 43%.

Rasmussen isn't trustworthy.

Can't imagine any scenario where Cheney has gained favor with the public since then.

10. Polling on impeachment is very unpopular
most pollsters appear afraid to bring it up.

11. The Good / Most Professional Polling Outfits...
... should be embracing it, on a state-by-state basis, as a "second-tier" indicator for 2008 races.

13. a better question: Do you think impeachment hearings should be held
to investigate whether Cheney should be removed from office?

That would get a different response, I'd wager.

Still, only 40% said "No" to removal from office, so that's hopeful, but could be why the Vichy Dems are trying to sideline H.Res. 333...

14. I'm surprised that many know who the VP is. Most of the people I encounter can not
name their Congressional rep, Chief Justice, any member of their school board, any member of their town board. We just had local elections in a very red area of a blue state. Going door to door was very disappointing and troubling. People have totally tuned out of politics and government. Now that you can renew lic and plates by mail, even the ties to the DMV have been cut.
