I lost respect for Alan Alda
I was waking up after falling asleep on the couch during RAW (luckily I Tivoed Jericho's return), and the TV was on Fox News which means my roommate was up, there I saw Alan Alda being interviewed by the morning people. I always believe the progressive citizens should not be interviewed in Fox News studios. My only exceptions are politicians who are campaigning like Kucinich, and promoting a movie coming out. He was promoting a book, but when you do that, its not worth going to Fox over. IMO.

also not respect General Wesley Clark? He used to work there.

29. Alan Alda is a class act
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 12:35 PM by Va Lefty
Not only that but he is possibly the nicest celebrity in the world. I met Mr. Alda years ago on a cross-country flight. The man was tired (it was one of those "red-eye" flights) and had a cold but he was charming and gracious to everyone who approached him. He took time to talk with people and posed for pictures and was just an all around nice guy. He also was a big supporter of The Equal Rights Amendment in the Seventies/Eighties. If Mr. Alda chooses to go on Faux Noise to sell his book, I have no problem with that.

I could be wrong, but if memory serves me corectly, which is average, I think he said that being a Fox correspondant was a mistake. Please understand, in my OP, it was just my opinion. If anybody doesn't agree with me, I'm cool with that. :)

58. It's a kind of bleak Woody Allen movie. I think Allen paints too bleak a picture
but he raises some interesting questions.

Alda plays a pompous, egotistical TV producer or star (maybe both, I don't remember). It's almost as if he's playing his evil twin (or maybe it's his shadow side).

20. Actually, making the puke on West Wing seem almost human was a
betrayal of the truth. But it was a fictional tv show, so I guess a make-believe impossibility is permissable.

But I wonder how many people saw his portrayal and thought, "See, there are decent republicans out there." It's not nice to foster falsehoods.

decent sorts but now since the bushite virus took over by a coup, no less, and they see what a sham their republican party is and is actually controlled by fascists and perverts, now..there's really no excuse for staying in.

fauxnoise is a propoganda machine for corporatewhore bushit and I really liked it when the Dems wouldn't let them broadcast a debate. I'm sure Alan Alda is cool but people should really think twice before they go into the viper's nest to promote their life's work.

Does he refer to the Democratic party as the "Democrat" party? Does he say Liberals hate America? Is he pro-torture? Is he a chicken-hawk etc. etc.....

If not, he doesn't even REMOTELY resemble the national republican leadership - and neither did Alda.

But Martin Sheen and Jimmy Smits hardly resembled any Dems we know in positions of real power. It was a land of fantasy where the Dems are what we want them to be and the Republicans in power are rational, well thought human beings.

48. No.. I don't know who you are confusing, but actor Larry Linville
Edited on Tue Nov-20-07 03:41 PM by hlthe2b
left MASH for other (largely unsuccessful roles)-- then his health went downhill in the 90s, with development of Lung Cancer and surgical removal of part of a lung in 1998 (he died in 2000). Faux News debuted the end of 1996, but the Frank Burns character actor, Linville never had any involvement. By then, he was apparently too sick for much of anything. His downhill course coincided with a family friend, so I remember following his sad illness and final years (via ET, which I still watched at that time on tv).
