Roberts says God forced his resignation
TULSA, Okla. - Richard Roberts told students at Oral Roberts University Wednesday that he did not want to resign as president of the scandal-plagued evangelical school, but that he did so because God insisted.

God told him on Thanksgiving that he should resign the next day, Roberts told students in the university's chapel.

"Every ounce of my flesh said 'no'" to the idea, Roberts said, but he prayed over the decision with his wife and his father, Oral Roberts, and decided to step down.

Roberts said he wanted to "strike out" against the people who were persecuting him, and considered countersuing, but "the Lord said, 'don't do that,'" he said.

Why can't these people ever admit that they screwed up?

3. Why?
Because they are common thieves and criminals, their actions made worse by their hypocrisy.

The enormous inflation of ego which accompanies this crowd seems to prohibit any semblance of humility.

If they believed they were innocent they would go to court...instead, they attempt to hide behind the counsel of God.

Hypocrites, liars, thieves...

:puke:

7. Good point. They should get them for slander, defamation of character, and whatever else comes along
I hope a few in that school can recognize this and then explain it to the rest of them!

5. Why does God pick such shitty people to lead his flocks?
Edited on Thu Nov-29-07 04:05 AM by Old and In the Way
From Elmer Gantry on to Jimmy Swigart, Jim Baker, Jerry Falwall, Pat Robinson, and Oral, Jr. They all seem to be swindler type character flaws. Is God a sucker for a con artist?

Or maybe when he was calling them to be shepards for his sheep, they assumed fleecing was part of their God inspired duties?

8. " Is God a sucker for a con artist? "
You're not serious are you?!

Con artists know that "god" and so-called religion are the perfect scam.

It's amazing to me that people are so gullible and afraid.

Preying on insecure suckers with the whole jayzuss thang is one of the oldest tricks around. Chaucer and Boccaccio are full of stories about religious con-artists, as is Mark Twain. Look at what the King and the Duke were up to in Huckleberry Finn!
