17. Also by dentures. When they're removed, the lip collapses in and those deep
crevasses form. My grandmother had those wrinkles and never smoked.

27. I know wrinkles is the result of getting old.
I was speaking specifically the ones above her lip and were caused by her smoking. Sorry I offended you by this post. I know I was being catty.

13. The last straw for me...
Was when I realized the tabacco companies were putting extra chemicals into cigarettes to keep us all addicted, so we would smoke more and give them more of our hard-earned money! It's been a year and a half, and I've kept a lot of my money for myself!

Don't let them rule your life!

Wrinkles around the mouth are but a small portion of the evils smoking puts on a person.

21. How long did you smoke?
I smoked for over 30 yrs. up to 3-4 packs a day. Stopped 9 months ago. Doctor says no signs of emphysema. Started going to the gym about 4 months ago, but the best i can do is about 3 miles of a mixture of running and walking, running solidly (6.4 mph) for the first 5-6 minutes, then about 2 minutes of each for the remainder of 30 minutes. Am i expecting too much too soon? (i have lost 15 pounds tho)

29. about 35 yrs........
I gained a lot of weight and began dieting and working out in July. In the beginning I could only do about 30 minutes. I power walk from 3.5 to 4.4 mph depending on the day. I walk from level 4 to level 15 up hill for a large calorie burn. It does help build stamina. I've also been doing some circuit training with weights, 20-40 minutes. I've strengthen my back, lost 81 lbs and my blood pressure medicine had to be lower to the lowest dose. All my previous medical conditions for the most part have gone away. I laid around with a busted up ankle for months in 05 and gained a lot of weight. I found a Dr. who listens and she got me straight and on track. I have to see another Dr. who monitors a Triple A that I have and I know he is going to freak when he sees me. He doesn't know how much better I am. Just stay with it I feel great and for 52 I'm in better shape now than I was at 40. No wheezing or coughing any more and I can't stand the smell of those butts.

34. Got Nothing On Me
I probably failed 100 attempts with various methods over 15 or more years before it "took."

Promised myself that, if having been a smoker for 30+ years would indeed eventually kill me, then I'd at least DIE a non-smoker.

Minute by hour by day by week, etc., of teeth-gritting cold turkey finally worked. Just talking about it now gets the nerves singing (other former addicts will know about this). Coming up on four years clean.

Have a few of my own wrinkles; nothing that bad, thank goodness. Meow-You'd think she could afford the cosmetic plumping injections, wouldn't you?
