Gay bashing world wide
It looks like the Netherlands is experiencing a rash of gay bashings--so they'll do a study on why.

Can anyone guess what drives people to act like this--can anyone help the Dutch noodle this one out?

1. It's just one sign of the growing Radical Islamization of European Society
In a way we in the US are responsible for this, because it comes as a response to our War On Terror.

The more one side escalates the more the other escalates

2. We're to blame for a lot--but this?
That's a stretch. The US government did not write the Koran.

3. Muslims have been living in Europe for decades
Somehow, I don't think that all recent troubles coinciding with Bush's "Crusade" is just a coincidence.

4. I think the Islamic Fundamentalist meme is getting stronger.
Like here in the State's--especially in the South and Midwest, the Christian fundie meme has grown considerably in the past few decades.

5. church going in even the most frothing at the mouth fundie churches is declining.
yes, -- fundies will go through a backlash -- they have to -- because they do want to come to grips with any modern reality.

but our influence on gay bashing in europe -- that's like saying there's a man in the moon.

european societies -- like any that is lurching forward -- is going to experience a gut level backlash.

whether it's against gay folk or somebody else.
people are frustrated.

european countries will have to get more aggressive with making sure that all their citizens are safe.

i have faith they won't let this stand.

i've been to europe many times -- and i've never felt as safe -- as a gay man -- as when i was there.
