What else can we do, but just wait out the clock?

And keep our fingers crossed, come next November and just hope that the democratic leaders who have failed us won't fail us once more. I mean, how can we remotely begin to think that we can bring justice to this administration, unless we are willing to force our party leaders to do so? We have a problem within our party that we cannot ignore. Our very own leaders have given tacit approval to this hideous and horrificly brutal and illegal administration, and all the while our young are dying. Blood is shed on a daily basis, and many here personally know the families of soldiers who have died in Iraq and Afghanistan. And every one of us is suffering under the ever tightening restraints of tyranny.

And our democratic leadership fiddles and plays politics, while Rome burns to the ground. Make no mistake about it, and there is no way it can be sugarcoated; their weak opposition to this administration has made them compliant. And in some instances their collusion with this administration has to have diehard democrats shaking their heads and wondering aloud just which side our party leadership is on. Their betrayal of their oaths of office betray the constitution and weaken our democracy. We are at the breaking point.

If Johnathan Turley is right, and there were deals made between our party leaders and this administration not to impeach, then we have a major problem here. And by god we had better address it, and the sooner the better. Something is definitely rotten in Washington. The democratic party affected sweeping change in the power structure of this country, just a little over a year ago, or so we thought. We had a mandate, or so we thought. We were to end the war, or so we thought. We were going to put a stop to the infringements to our constitutional rights, or so we thought. We were going to impeach the president, or so we thought.

Why the bloody hell hasn't any of that happened? I have asked myself why, and can come up with only two answers, and one of those makes no sense. Either our democratic leaders are stupid, (which I have a hard time digesting) or they envy the power structure put into place by this administration, and can't wait to get their hands on the steering wheel themselves to take it for their own test drive.

Either way, us citizens are screwed.

And so very little has changed in the last year, except that Bush continues to thumb his nose at the rule of law, while he continues on his path of destruction. So, why not shut this country's business down for impeachment hearings and a trial, if all that would be lost is a continuation of evil?

The MSM says that the democratic party's inability to successfully achieve our mandate is because our leaders have tried to please the left wing of the party. NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH!! Our party isn't listening to us, guys and gals. We are being ignored, like a fart in an elevator. They know we are here, but they will not acknowledge us.

And we are angry. At the administration, at our leadership, at the media, and at the rest of this country that seems to have their collective head buried in the sand.

I have lost faith in my party, and the hell of is that I have nowhere to go. I'll say this much; I do not trust our leadership to pull out of Iraq, should we win the White House in November. They didn't do right by us for the Iraq resolution, the Iran resolution, the Patriot act or wiretapping. Both houses of congress have shown a reticence to move forward on investigations, hearings or indictments of Bush, Cheney, Rove or any other officials. Why should I believe in a complete reversal of behavior, come November, 2008 or January of 2009?

What more proof do we need that the entire system is broken, than to reflect on the absurdity that took place in the house of representatives, the day that Dennis Kucinich introduced articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney?

We are progressives here at DU. How can we, in good conscience allow our democratic leadership to behave contrary to the best interests of our country? We all care deeply. We all pay attention. Democracy matters to us. It is up to us to affect real change. We cannot support those who lead our party anymore. Somehow, we must put our heads together as progressives and figure out how to make them listen.

1. I'm never quite sure what it is that people expect to happen when . . .
such a small fraction of the people of this country votes, let alone is out there working everyday to do whatever it takes to help others become active on the issues.

The Status Quo is one huge Self-fulfilling Prophecy BECAUSE so many people are so passive, abdicating everything to others: political parties, churches, trade organizations, the media, anyone and anything but "me" taking the time, figuring out what to do, and getting my butt out there to do the work. Any kind of change that happens without that will always just devolve into more of the same.

3. The grand plan of keeping Americans uninformed has worked
all too well. And, the system has been corrupted to the point that it won't matter who is in control. It will only be a matter of degrees. That is, unless the people rise and take our country back. There will need to be a sense of alarm, followed by a political awakening by the willfully uninformed for this to happen.

2. Restore Michigan & Florida delegates
The party admins are really making the party look very bad.
Not to mention the hapless House and Senate "leadership".
