War in Iraq comes home to theatres.
This is a pretty good take on war movies.

The liberal war movie tends to push an anti-war perspective, engages in critical arguments and tends to reduce the components of a political meltdown into personal stories in an attempt to steer clear of blatant polemics. The theory behind the liberal war movie model is that hate and intolerance become a lot harder when the enemy is rendered as a human being, instead of a foreign-tongued monster. In essence, humanism displaces nationalism.

The conservative war movie is much different. Because the conservative generally equates national self-esteem with military might, and the ability to kick ass around the world, the conservative war movie usually features one super-manly hero who can save the world single-handed, and reaffirm basic conservative views about strong leadership and military strength adding up to increased national pride.
