Q Just a related question. Why was it released, given the degree to which it might tie your hands?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: I think there was a general belief, that we all shared, that it was important to put it out; that it was not likely to stay classified for long anyway and -- in terms of trying to deal effectively with this kind of an issue, especially in light of what happened with respect to Iraq and the NIE on weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, that we be up front with what we knew. This is what we know. This is the latest intelligence we have and this is what the analysis says it means and it signifies. So it was our judgment it was better just to lay those key judgments out there, publicly, in an unclassified form. I think that's the right call.

Q So you thought it might leak?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Pardon?

I bet the bureaucracy made it clear that if Cheney didn't release it then it would be leaked. That's the main leverage they had. So in the end it forced the release as a limited hangout.

I'll bet he was talking about his Depends undergarments, and not the NIE. It's Dick's little way of speaking the truth without us knowing he's talking about something else.

5. I think he just cooked himself and his armies of operatives. It's time

for some kind of law to be used against him and his operatives, including the puppet-in-chief who lets Cheney run the country for the barons and corporations.

People, what is says is that we have some humanitarians in OUR government and I hope they will be safe. They just cut some people out of some profits.

I am beginning to think that some people just saved many lives and that that announcement by Hadley was not just a set-up - a deception to last over Christmas so the other corporations could make a bundle.

What is needed now are serious people oriented people running our government and sitting down in trade negotiations with the people we need to buy from.

I hope the meetings in Bali will lead the way to solutions that don't call for massacres and torture for certain people to get what they want while others lie in blood or are exiled or are suffering from the reality and the fear of cholera spreading and their future with auto-immune deformities and deficincies.
