We Hold These Truth's to be Self Evident: Impeachment, Iraq, Katrina, Habeus Corpus, Source Code,
Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 11:25 AM by In Truth We Trust
Renditioning, Abu Ghraib, Falujah, Plame, Abramoff, Gannon, HAVA, Foley, Medicare, Secret Energy Meetings, September 11, Sixteen Words, WMD, Lost Nine Billion Dollars, Halliburton Overcharges, Illegal Spying on American Citizens and on, and on, and on, and on,...........

If Congress does not IMPEACH NOW then they NEVER WILL. I will not give up no matter what the nay sayers, collaborators, enablers and trolls say or do.

We hold these truths to be self evident: That High Crimes and Misdemeanors HAVE BEEN COMMITTED. It is Congress's duty and sworn oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of these United States.

The corporately controlled political establishment and the media will not fight this battle for the future integrity of our country. It is left to us; John and Jane Q Public to get off our asses and get on the streets and into the public square and in the courthouse and at the rally's and protest's and significant numbers.

Demand rule of law! Demand it NOW! Hold all accountable, be they dem's or repug's.

One more thing of utmost importance : Hand Counted Paper Ballots NOW!!!

edit for typo

11. not going to happen.
For anyone with any kind of memory, the dire predictions about an imminent attack on Iran have been going on for almost 2 years. It's not going to happen for a host of reasons.

12. Yes, I know.
And I've posted at DU about the ongoing "dire prediction" thing, and my belief that they won't be able to pull it off.

But the question remains, like Conyers, if BushCo invaded Iran, would you then be for impeachment?

4. It's absolutely repugnant to me as an American
...that no one in Congress is willing to hold these fascist bastards accountable except people like Feingold and Kucinich. How many more fucking laws do BushCo have to break, how many more wars do they have to start, how many more lives have to be lost and ruined before the political elite of this country decide that exposing the innumerable crimes against people and nations including our own, and seeking justice, is more important than the god damn next election?

13. They have their agenda
Listening won't become part of it without exceptional pressure on them to do their damn jobs, and I don't see that happening while they're made to feel they'll get the Democratic vote no matter what they do, because "they're still better than a Republican".

6. All we're saying is: "Do your job."
Does BushCo send threats to Congress every week, or is our ENTIRE freaking government filled with Vichy collaborators?

One has to wonder.

10. Until the media and democrats come out and admit this fundamental truth
........ that bush took power after a coup in 2000 we will never move forward.

"DELAND, Fla., Nov. 11 - Something very strange happened on election night to Deborah Tannenbaum, a
Democratic Party official in Volusia County. At 10 p.m., she called the county elections department and
learned that Al Gore was leading George W. Bush 83,000 votes to 62,000. But when she checked the
county's Web site for an update half an hour later, she found a startling development: Gore's count had
dropped by 16,000 votes, while an obscure Socialist candidate had picked up 10,000--all because of a
single precinct with only 600 voters."
- Washington Post Sunday , November 12, 2000 ; Page A22

The Supreme Court stopped the legal counting of votes in 2000 and the rest is "sad history."

bush has never seen where he should be constrained by laws and honesty. When will America rise up
and drive this squatter from the White House?

15. LOL at your subject line! And I think you've put your finger on it--
"the corporately controlled political establishment." Bush did not just happen to us, by some unfortunate accident, or dirty tricks by a few assholes. The Bush Junta has been in preparation for over three decades, and certainly with particular intensity beginning with Reagan. We've been slowly taken over by the Corporate Reich--with Bush being the coup de grace, the FINAL looting, not some sort of anomaly--and this takeover of our government, and destruction of our democracy, will not be undone in a day. They've now gone so far as to grab direct secret control of vote counting, so that it is nearly impossible to change the country's course. We have to outvote machines that are run on "TRADE SECRET," PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by rightwing Bushite corporations--a coup that occurred during the 2002 to 2004 period.

So that's where I always start. We MUST throw Diebold and ES&S, and all election theft machines, out of our voting system, and return vote counting to the public venue! We can't even begin to address the enormous damage the Bush Junta has done to our country until we have restored transparent elections. Voting is the mechanism by which we exercise our sovereignty as a people. The Corporate Reich now OWNS that mechanism--as a TRADE SECRET.

Recently, in FL-13, ES&S 'disappeared' 18,000 Democratic votes for Congress--in an election decided by some 300 votes. Christine Jennings (the Dem*) challenged it, and ES&S REFUSED to disclose its SECRET vote counting code, and the first judge it went to AGREED that ES&S's PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS IN OUR ELECTION SYSTEM *TRUMPS* THE VOTERS' RIGHT TO KNOW HOW THEIR VOTES WERE COUNTED!

That's how far things have gone.

I think that is where we must begin peeling Corporate Rule back.

In South America, the people have gotten very savvy about this--far savvier than we in the north. In Venezuela, for instance, they hand-count FIFTY-FIVE PERCENT of the votes, against the electronic totals, cuz they don't trust the machines. (The machines ALSO have open source software--that anybody may inspect). Know how much WE handcount, against the electronic totals given to us by rightwing Bushite corporations and their "trade secret" code? 0% in many states. 1% in the best states. Know how much the Democratic Congress proposes that we count, now that we've had 6 years of a fascist junta in the White House and in Congress? 2%. --with billions and billions more of taxpayer dollars going to Diebold and ES&S to "fix" the election system that they deliberately broke.

While I am never against street protests, the Corporate Reich has become so sophisticated in its techniques of controlling and marginalizing street protests that I don't think that should be the focus of change. The focus of moral and patriotic witness, surely, and a way to educate people, and hearten them. But not the focus of HOW TO change things --unless the street protest is down the street at your local registrar's home or office. Pressure at the local-state level is the best hope of restoring transparent elections. One strategy would be to force them to handcount all the Absentee Ballot votes (and post the results before any electronics are involved), because 50% of the voters are choosing AB voting in many places--a big increase--in an effort to get around the rigged electronics. (We need to stop the practice of the election officials merely scanning AB votes right into the rigged electronics.)

18. Your analysis and solution is absolutely correct imho. Thanks for respnding. We must win through
perseverance regarding transparent elections. Almost a catch 22 however considering the dynamic. Change our voting apparatus through the use of said apparatus.

That is why ultimately I feel it may behoove all election integrity patriots to coalesce behind a grass roots effort to require HCPB's via a Constitutional amendment. This requires time but must be done because the writing on the wall indicates that we will be served lip service by way of "verifiable receipts" which is of course just lip stick on a pig if you will.
