Hillary Nutcracker w/stainless steel thighs (I don't care who you are, that's funny):
Edited on Wed Dec-12-07 08:02 PM by cyberpj
I have no interest in this company, just happened to get the email and ordered one for my Christmas party nut bowl.
Can't wait to see peoples' faces. And what a conversation starter!

This 8-inch plastic figure captures Senator Clinton in all her walnut-crunching glory, with stainless steel thighs that can pulverize even the hardest shells.

Quotes on the box ( and who they're attributed to: )
“I can feel Bill’s pain,” - Barack Obama.
“Hillary Nutcracker - that’s redundant,” - John McCain.
“No comment,” - Bill Clinton.

1. Oh, I get it. She's a woman who wants to do a "man's job"...
Edited on Wed Dec-12-07 08:08 PM by Kutjara
...so that makes her a "nutcracker," right?

I wonder if they make any Obama lawn jockeys? If we're gonna be sexist assholes, may as well be racist ones too.

54. Most of the "spells" are pretty sexist, stuff like
"give Hillary a bad hair day" or "make her further emasculate Bill". It's a harmless gag gift.

If I was so thin skinned as to be offended by this, I'd have to quit the internet.

2. Sexist shit.
I was in a Newbury Comics store last week (yeah, I was buying a Godzilla DVD...what of it?!?!) and they were selling them. I asked the girl at the counter what she thought and she just stuck her finger in her mouth to make a gagging motion. Sums it up.

47. Spectacular!
I know the...mainstream...does not necessarily share our feelings about these classics...they don't sit as well with the CGI generation...but I love em!

But IMO they are among the greatest ever made. Good fun they are indeed!

I am sad that the big green fella is currently "retired" but I believe that someday he'll be back.

There's an idea for a 3D Godzilla short film for Imax, which may or may not get done. Here's the latest I've seen on that.

http://www.scifijapan.com/articles/2007/08/07/the-long-evolution-of-godzilla-3-d/

I fully expect that there will be news on a real movie by 2010. It's easy money for Toho, though I wish they'd make one every two years instead of rushing them out every year like they tend to do. Give the makers two years and a slightly bigger budget (why Gamera 3 can come out in '99 and still look better than all the G movies after it is beyond me, though Final Wars has some great effects mixed in with the cheese) and I think we'd get some real good movies.

As for the CGI, I wouldn't mind if they incorporated more of it into the G movies, but not to the extent we saw in the American one. The miniature work they do is mind boggling, especially in the Millenium series (the sound set for Godzilla 2000 had to have been huge), and I love it just for the craft itself, but a little CGI would let them do more dynamic shots. Just don't get carried away with it. If they did go CGI though I'd prefer they go %100 CGI like Final Fantasy:Spirits Within or something. The mix of live action and CGI though is usually pretty iffy. One tends to detract from the other.

It was nice to get the DVDs and see the letterbox prints and Japanese versions. The original Japanese version of Gojira is way heavier and more somber than the American version with raymond Burr that we all grew up with, and you realize how many references to the bomb were edited out. And like I said before, my old tapes were just about toast. After a couple hundred plays they just don't look so good anymore. :)

but sneeriously, maybe you just need a bit of guidance or something and don't realise how poisonous this kind of stuff is. Making fun of and reducing a woman to her sexual parts hurts all women - even the ones You love and care for.

37. It only takes a moment to check a profile. It wasn't "braying manly fun" at all:
I am female. I am in my late 50s. I was involved in women's lib and worked hard for equal pay movements. I can remember days when this would have been a tribute not a slam. And tonight it just happened to make me laugh. I meant no harm. But it was indeed eye-opening to be instantly labeled and called some of the things I was called by people here.

It does take all kinds of us - and that's what I remember about progressives - not so much the instantaeous assumptions and judgements based on so little information. I was hit a lot harder with a 'with us or against us' mentality than I could ever have imagined here. Lesson learned.

57. If it makes you feel any better...
I was just judging the toy, not you. I'm not very PC at times, and humor is so subjective that we all can see different things as being funny. I tend to agree with George Carlin that pretty much anything can be funny, but it has to be done right. My own sense of humor is very dark and borders on morbid at times (gallows humor in this day and age). To me this is sexist because it seems to play into the stereotype that any strong woman is a ball buster and man-hater in a way, and I don't think that's the case in the real world very often.

I don't think anyone who likes this toy is automatically sexist however. But I don't think many guys will see this and think, "Boy, that's empowering them!". I suspect it'll play right into the negative stereotype I mentioned more often than not.

46. Well it's the Alpha Males Bush, Cheney et al who have the American male's body parts in a vise.
Sometimes when people are nervous about upseting the pecking order, they turn around and make fun of people they consider lower on the totem pole. (mixed metaphor).

Wonder what the reaction would be to a George Bush nutcracker or maybe a well-endowed George sticking it to someone.

The fact is for all the fun made of Bush's intelligence, he is at the top of the heap. America's strong man, numero uno. Heck he even has people tortured and children raped and gets away with it.

The ancient relationship between the sexes can be boiled down to what's between our legs and how we use it. It's a toss up as to who is best equipped. The nut or the nutcracker.
