What is going on with the weather? It's freezing
here in California, but my friend who lives in Northeast Tennessee on the Virginia border said it was a record 72 degrees today. :wtf:

3. We must not have too many people here from the mid-West . . . not much on
what they've been going thru!!!

This is the earth trying to remain in balance ---
It will be chaotic --
As the Pentagon told Bush . . . Global Warming is more of a danger to US than terrorists.
We can expect more earthquakes, cyclones, tornadoes --- fiercer hurricanes ---
all kinds of intensities --- from floods to droughts --

Some talk of a pole shift ---
When you think about oil and other natural resources removed from the earth,
you can begin to wonder if they are, in fact, the earth's ballast.
What dangers do we encourage when we exploit natural resources --
burn fossil fuels = get Global Warming.

Our planet sits wobbily on its axis ---

More than a decade ago, it was reported in the NY Times that ...
"the dams and reservoirs our Army Corps of Engineers built over the last 50 years
are impacting the rotation of the earth."

Natural is not indestructible ---
and man is its greatest enemy ---

Edited on Thu Dec-13-07 12:35 AM by TahitiNut
You want "freezing"? Freezing is 32°F!! It's when water turns HARD. (sheesh!)

FWIW, most of California (32° 30'N to 42°N) is further north than Tennessee (35°N to 36° 41'N).

13. 58 is too cold. ;) Oh, I went to school in E. Tennessee
and we got snow in Knoxville.

I know it also snows in Nashville, which is in central TN

Doesn't snow in many places in California, unless you live in the mountains. :)

The more documentation you can show, the sooner you are banned for temerity.

BTW, the Forbiddden Topics list is unlisted. Go figure.

So, do I understand this correctly? There are "Forbidden Topics", but like booby traps, you don't learn what they are until you bring them up & are then banned. :yoiks:

What other topics are "Forbidden"?
Who decides what is "Forbidden"?

Isn't this "Democratic" Underground?

a couple days ago it was about 14. We have a lot of snow right now, it was a little early this year. But from what I understand the predictions were for a real wintery december and mild january and february this year.

As for colds.....

shit, I just got rid of one, and I'm on my second already. Rather unusual, I normally make it through the winter with only one. BB Maine-ah is on her second as well.

37. Third grade science
weather is what is happening today. Climate is what has been happening the last 10+ years. (Don't you just love all the folks who gleefully debunk the science of global warming after the year's first freeze. I'm sure they're the same people whose ancestors labeled Galileo a heretic and who still believe the Apollo missions were staged on a movie set. Ah, science. The great enemy.)
