One lady just interviered from South Carolina said "Celebrities should not be political"..Hahahahahahahaha..

But I bet she LOVED it when Fred Thompson got political... and Reagan.. and Ahhhnold..

Oprah's website is getting some nasty email and comments too..

I guess some people liked her OK when she was just the smilin' gal who liked to give shit away, but if she dares to speak an opinion, well.. THAT's NOT ok..

and the ultimate horror? she "used" MLK in a speech, so she's making it a "black" thing :eyes:

Oprah just may find out who her REAL fans are..

1. They should've led a petition drive to recall Sonny Bono, then.

2. That's why I respect the courage of celebrities who go political. They have nothing to gain.

3. I think the difference is...
...that those people were/are running for office. Oprah isn't.

I'd rather hear from the candidates than whoever they can put out in front of them...that's just me though.

7. You must be a Lawyer
Teasing out such a distinction only the most adroit could pull off. My hats off to you...but the jury decides against you.

5. What a lot of people didn't realize is
that a lot of people in this country did not care for Oprah. She had a large vocal following and people thought everybody loved her. The loved the show and the thought of all those prizes. But if you read the papers and saw a lot of the celeb stuff you would have seen that.

But as to being political she has absolute right to support who she wants. don't think ANY of the celebs should skirt the donation thing, but she is an American and entitled. Of course with bush in charge we might be told we can't support someone, or root for our team any more. Goodness it might come to that before he slinks into the dust.

6. There is a rightwing talker on the radio whose most recent commercial
has a clip of Oprah doing that 'Barack Obama' bellow, and then he launches into a tirade about how if the guy's name was Bill O'Banion, she wouldn't be supporting him.

He gets all pissed off and says "The ONLY reason why she's supporting him is because he's BLAAAAAAAACK!!!!"

It's kinda funny how ANGRY the guy gets.

9. "Conservatives" are straw-grasping talking-point swallowers who will say ANYTHING to get their way.
Even when it completely contradicts what they said 30 seconds ago,
as it so often does.

They are simplistic, black/white thinkers whose "personal identities"
are WAAAAAY too wrapped up in their NameBrand™ GROUP LABELS.

Anyone supporting their "group" will be hailed, and anyone opposing
it will be attacked. And there's no "internal consistency" to be found.

No more "logic" or "reason" than in the average hail of hard-flung monkeypoo.

They're all the same!

You know what? She's still a citizen and if she wants to endorse him and throw a party, BFD!

She has every right to do that and if I had the money? I'd do the same for Kucinich!
