McCain: Iraq War Mismanaged for Years

Monday, February 19, 2007

Republican presidential candidate John McCain said Monday the war in Iraq has been mismanaged for years and former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld will be remembered as one of the worst in history.

"We are paying a very heavy price for the mismanagement _ that's the kindest word I can give you _ of Donald Rumsfeld, of this war," the Arizona senator told an overflow crowd of more than 800 at a retirement community near Hilton Head Island, S.C. "The price is very, very heavy and I regret it enormously."

"I think that Donald Rumsfeld will go down in history as one of the worst secretaries of defense in history," McCain said to applause.

The comments were in sharp contrast to McCain's statement when Rumsfeld resigned in November, and failed to address the reality that President Bush is the commander in chief.

"While Secretary Rumsfeld and I have had our differences, he deserves Americans' respect and gratitude for his many years of public service," McCain said last year when Rumfeld stepped down.

"I have been saying for 3 1/2 years that we would be in this sad situation and this critical situation we are in today," he said.

1. Stick a fork in McCain, he's all done.
I cannot even keep track of all of his flip flops.

4. The worst of all this discussion is
That there was no "right" way to go to "war" in Iraq.

The US was taken to an illegal invasion and occupation of the only secular country in the middle east on false grounds. It was damn stupid, and Rumsfeld and company only made it worse.

There is no way to justify it, no way to "win" it, and no way to fix the damage now that Dubya has wrecked the joint.......all daddy's men can't fix this one.

5. ..But we should continue waging this 'mismanaged war' no questions asked.
McCain, you are a fool and an idiot. Please retire.

7. Isn't it amazing?
Isn't it just amazing how many good and great ideas the Republicans suddenly have just months after losing their majorities in both houses of Congress? Darn it all, if they'd just thought of some of these things a couple of months earlier, they'd still be in control.

Bad luck all around there. Well, now that the Republicans are all reasonable and ingenious all of a sudden, what's say we vote them back into power in 2008?

To which three-fourths of the electorate should say, "Are you fucking kidding me?"
