One of the worst parts of the stereotypical alpha American, or "strong leader" personality type is that any second-guessing or careful evaluation of motives and effects is considered feeble vascillation--in the press as much as in the workplace or in the home. Hopefully the myriad debacles this thinking has led to will undercut that incredibly harmful anti-philosophy somewhat.
