Reasons why being a righty sucks right now...
Edited on Mon Feb-19-07 06:38 PM by The Night Owl
In no particular order...

- George W. Bush and Dick Cheney are despised by a vast majority of Americans.
- Democrats control both the House and Senate.
- The GOP is splintering.
- Patrick Fitzgerald.
- A woman stands a good chance of getting elected to the presidency.
- The woman who stands a good chance of getting elected to the presidency is Hillary Clinton.
- A black man stands a good chance of getting elected to the presidency.
- The black man who stands a good chance of getting elected to the presidency is Barack Obama.
- A woman is Speaker of the House.
- The woman who is Speaker of the House is Nancy Pelosi.
- Almost daily beatings by Keith Olbermann, John Stewart, and Steven Colbert.
- Republican presidential candidates are considered by righties to be too far to the left.
- The religious right lacks a viable candidate for president.
- Al Gore is considered cool by most Americans.
- Most Americans have come to consider Republican politicians to be either corrupt or inept.
- The right's answer to The Daily Show bombed.

What else?

Mr. Scaife, reclusive heir to the Mellon banking fortune, spent more than $2 million investigating and publicizing accusations about the supposed involvement of Mrs. Clinton and former President Bill Clinton in corrupt land deals, sexual affairs, drug running and murder.

But now, as Mrs. Clinton is running for the Democratic presidential nomination, Mr. Scaife’s checkbook is staying in his pocket.

Christopher Ruddy, who once worked full-time for Mr. Scaife investigating the Clintons and now runs a conservative online publication he co-owns with Mr. Scaife, said, “Both of us have had a rethinking.”

“Clinton wasn’t such a bad president,” Mr. Ruddy said. “In fact, he was a pretty good president in a lot of ways, and Dick feels that way today.”
