(And I won't go into how his scandals are just now hitting) I think religious conservatives are feeling pretty uninspired this year. Their top 3 candidates include a pro-choice, gay-friendly New York Catholic (you still find some anti-Catholic sentiments amongst the Protestant religiously insane), an old coot who criticized them in 2000 and is trying to suck up to them now, and a Mormon. And for all intents and purposes, all their religious leaders from big dogs like the late-not-so-great Falwell, Robertson, and others down to tent revival evangelists have been telling these social conservatives that Mormonism is a cult, and there's little Mitt can do to get through that viewpoint. Even if Mittens gets the nomination, and some of the anti-Mormon reverends do a 180 (Falwell would have; Robertson will; Dobson probably won't) and start telling their flocks to support Mitt, it will still be hard for the religiously insane branch to get up any enthusiasm to go out and vote for him.
