seen today "I believe in saying Merry Christmas" car magnet.
In elk grove california on a mini van, a magnet that looked like a bumper sticker and i think thats pretty half assed, if they really meant it i think they would have have put adhesive on the back. The Merry Christmas warriors are sadly uncommitted, The Merry Christmas Chicken elves.

weird compulsion to proclaim so on a bumper sticker.

17. Apparently not.
Here's what I got in the mail today from AFA:

You would think a company that gets the vast majority of its business from Christians would be respectful of its customers. Such is true of companies that don't have an anti-Christian bias. But not at Old Navy. Old Navy has put a blockade around Christmas.

Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic are owned by the same company. And all three boycott Christmas. At these stores, Christmas isn't allowed because a handful of non-Christians are offended. Old Navy doesn't want to offend non-Christians. But they sure don't worry about offending Christians.

They will take your money, but they will not recognize Christmas.

Old Navy doesn't sell Christmas gifts. They sell "holiday" gifts. They don't close their stores on Christmas. They close on "holiday." They don't observe "Christmas morning," they observe "holiday morning." They don't wish customers a "Merry Christmas." They wish them a "happy holiday." Old Navy boycotts Christmas.

Old Navy has been boycotting Christmas for years. And despite thousands and thousands of requests to recognize Christmas, they refuse to do so. In fact, Old Navy is so adamant about boycotting Christmas that they have blocked incoming e-mails requesting they recognize Christmas.

When an Old Navy store manager was asked if the word "Christmas" was used in his store, he answered: "We have a lot of Christmas gifts in our stores, but the word 'Christmas' is not used here. Everything is 'holiday.'"

Old Navy even makes a joke of Christmas by offering video greetings called "Happy Chrismukkah."

Take Action!

After you have signed the petition, call Old Navy and tell them in a kind and polite way that as long as they boycott Christmas, you will boycott Old Navy. The toll free number is 1-800-427-7895. The company number is 650-952-4400. When requested, push the order number when prompted so you will be able to speak with a live person.
Forward this to your friends and family! Help us promote the boycott of Old Navy, Gap and Banana Republic.

Thank you for caring enough to get involved. If you feel our efforts are worthy of support, would you consider making a small tax-deductible contribution? Click here to make a donation.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman

So now, it's all about the shopping.

35. No, it should be said...
...any time between sundown on December 24th and January 5th.

Of course, if you hold to the Sarum Rite (the medieval liturgical calendar from the Cathedral of Salisbury in Britain), you'd be saying "Merry Christmas" from the 24th to February 2nd. (They had a 40-day Christmas season, instead of the 12-day season of the rest of western Christianity.)

37. You're saying Christmas lasts until January 5?
People already seem to think that Christmas begins November 1.

The saying "Christmas only happens once a year" is a lie. It actally stretches on for about 2 months. Now you're saying that a determined person could push it into February, making it last 3 months.

39. What I mean to say of course was
(not Merry Christmas) but, thank you for the information, and thank you for caring about the important history, and relevance, and all around historic background of Christmas. It's pretty cool that people still keep informed with the old traditions.

That means so much more to me than a flier in the Newspaper after Thanksgiving, or the same old annoying christmas music played way too soon in the year. Here's to the REAL MEANING of CHRISTMAS, whatever that is. Thank you for giving us modern folks a taste of what it might have been.

You can buy a "You can say Merry Christmas to me" button for $10 plus shipping and handling and get a "You can say Merry Christmas to me" car magnet for free.

It's so unbelievably silly. I can't believe adults think of this stuff.

29. To really understand why this is happening,
you need to step inside the mind of a member of the persecuted powerful majority. It's a dark and frightening place, but bear with me.

They believe it's all slipping away. The immigrants are coming and breeding and whites are going to be the minority. Liberals have taken over the institutions of learning and are indoctrinating the kids. The media is hopelessly liberal and biased and doesn't love freedom and the military like they should. Reverse discrimination is sacrificing their career path. At work, they can't talk freely about niggers and bitches like they used to be able to.

And now, the tradition they knew from their childhood, the only measure they make, is fading. It doesn't matter that the founding fathers were mostly deists, not Christian. Or that Christmas was not celebrated by many religious groups for much of American history. Or that Christmas, as it's known to us presently, is as much a product of Madison Avenue as the books of the bible. What matters is the feeling, that it's all slipping away. That's why they fight so hard over something so silly.

36. Until they start putting it on YOUR car..
cry me a river. I'm an atheist.. as in people can celebrate their shit openly in front of me and wish me all the good wishes from their religion and I don't give a shit. So people say "Merry Christmas". Big fucking deal.

When people say "Happy Valentine's Day" to you do you get upset and insist they say "Happy Lupercalia"(look it up)? If someone gives you a Christmas gift do you throw it in their face and say "Fuck you, Christian!"? My boss is a Baptist minister on the side. Should I go take a shit on his desk if he mentions Christmas in front of me?

Sorry, I don't know you so I shouldn't be so mean... but I am just sick to death over this crap. Let the Christians have their Christmas. I'm tired of seeing Christmas everywhere too, but I don't go around complaining about people saying "Merry Christmas". It's better than a sharp stick in the eye.

38. Jesus never forced anyone to believe in him...
Ask a Christian if Jesus has the power to do so...

I think it's horribly arrogant for Christians to want to change laws and force other Christian beliefs upon the rest of us, when God himself gave us free will and would have forced us all to obey his laws if he wanted to do that.

This Christian failing is obviously counterproductive and causing more harm to the religion than good.

Jesus must be pissed as hell. These loons are giving him a bad name.
