The BOriley incident at Obama's event highlights the most troubling aspect of his candidacy

The real possibility that he will not survive until election day. I know its the most heinous event to contemplate, but almost every charismatic Dem leader since the 60's has been targeted.

1. I think candidates are equal targets
Seems like Hillary would be an even bigger target with all the right-wing hate radio people bashing her 365 days per year. Why would Obama be a bigger target?

25. The elephant in the room, of course.
There remains a certain share of this country that is both full of hate for and deeply afraid of powerful black men.

28. I agree.
However I believe the same for a powerful female (Clinton), a powerful Hispanic (Richardson, a powerful Morman (Romney), etc. I could see a nut-job Christian going after Romney in the name of Christ.

Again, I see many as equals for being targets. God let's hope nothing happens to any of them.

10. my point is not abut race as much as it is about charisma, its the most
charismatic leaders that are targeted and Obama is emerging as a very charismatic leader. Race is secondary. JFK, RFK, MLK, Wellstone

With the Dems, there's always at least somebody talking conspiracy theory.

Interesting, isn't it, how those plane crashes never seem to have repukes in them. Can anyone cite one? I can't think of a single one.

35. Clinton has had a couple of whack jobs show up at her campaign offices.
I would certainly count Bill O'Lielly as on of them.

All the candidates need protection, and I assume all of them do until the Secret Service takes over once one of them is names THE Democratic nominee.

24. CIA now hiring, one lone nut?
Obama being targeting, well, those were exactly my thoughts earlier today. That there are probably covert gears being put into motion to deal with the possibility of an Obama upset in the American political status quo. There are plenty of white racists and even Christian neo-fascists who would become uncontrollably enraged if and when Obama makes it the top. They would make great patsies for the CIA.

My guess is a convenient plane crash, like what happened recently with John Kennedy, Sen. Paul Wellstone, and others. I would recommend that Obama stay out of private planes and probably avoid unnecessary air travel while campaigning.

If you don't think someone from a mixed race can become a charismatic figure in the USA, you probably have forgotten about a guitarist named James ("Jimi") Marshall Hendrix. I think Obama could become someone of that stature. I never thought he would get where he is already today. He's got my vote for sure.

NeoCons and the ones in control of the black op stuff aren't going to take out someone just because of race.

27. All the Presidential candidates are at risk
Edited on Sat Jan-05-08 09:50 PM by doc03
I saw John Kerry's security first hand in Wheeling WV and in Steubenville OH. I saw agents hanging around town days before his appearance, snipers of roofs, boats on the river and in Steubenville Ohio I saw agents on the hilltop on the other side of the Ohio river a 1/2 mile away. I think a case could be made though that crazy white people assassinate people and I don't remember any black assassins. It is a concern but I wouldn't vote for someone else just because he could get shot.

44. Well, excuse me. . .but what qualifies Bill O'Reilly as PRESS?
Frankly, his bullsh*t doesn't rise to the level of deserving any press credentials - his program doesn't engage in "reporting" news, despite his propaganda. What ticks me off the most about this "incident" is the arrogance of O'Reilly in attempting to act as if his "commentary" program deserves complete access to ANYTHING, when in reality his sorry ass should have been shown the door immediately.

room and had a lady in the audience ask his question about Iraq. O'LIElly is trying to cause problems for all the Dems because they refuse to appear on his shitty show.

As an aside, I was watching The NH Democratic Party 100 Club Dinner on C-SPAN. Bill Richardson gave his speech, people were standing and cheering ....with Obama signs. After Richardson finished his speech the people were up and chanting for Obama to come out. THEN....the MC of the event went to the microphone and said, "For SECURITY PURPOSES we need to have everyone in their seats." Well, THAT went over like a lead balloon and Obama decided to just deal with it, I guess, and went out on the stage. :scared: I am worried sick for that man. You should have seen the Secret Service detail he had that night....they were EVERYWHERE and had him surrounded as he shook hands. It seemed like they must have received MORE THREATS after his Iowa win. The security was unbelievable....more than Clinton's, that's for sure.
